Today in Kung Fu cup played the 17-years-old Terran Percival from South Korea.
It made me wonder if someone with more knowledge of the tiny amateur scene can give me info about players like Percival (level of play / will to try to go pro / chance to qualify for a GSL in 2020 / etc.).
I took the liberty of creating this thread because I suppose some other people may be interested about this kind of info.
So far, based on Aligulac's active player database and recent online cups I checked on Liquipedia, here are the players I noticed:
Percival, 17, Terran => beat Dream 2-0 in Kung Fu cup today (19/03) and looks promising recently. Lives in NoRegret's gaming house.
Chance, 22, Protoss => played one game in GSTL and one in Proleague in 2013 and 2014, has done his military and wants to go pro. Plays a lot in 2020. He is actively looking for a team!
DynaMite, ??, Terran => won the 2015 SK Telecom Proleague with SK Telecom T1 but I'm not sure if he was field at all. Has joined Dian Lake Gaming alongside SortOf and EF to play in the Gold Series Team Championship, so we will see more of him this year
Prince, ??, Protoss => no info
sigh, ??, Terran => no info
control, 19, Terran => is GM for a while now but does not have good results in tournaments (aligulac.com)
Faint, 15, Zerg => is not near pro-gaming level, but is still very young
There are other players listed by Aligulac I never heard about, and I didn't include Spear, Zoun or Super, among others, as I feel like the have a pro player resume, as small or old as they can be looked upon.
edit: I add information each time someone share some as long as the player mentioned played in 2020. edit2: My English is probably bad and I'm sorry for that.

There are a couple more with our ongoing initiative under the Black Night flag, we certainly hope this batch will qualify for the GSL regular seasons as it has just been duly announced.

I saw that you signed HerO some weeks ago. Info about your players would be nice. Do you have this on your website? I can't find players resume or something close to it.
GL HF to all your players!

Dynamite is been around for some time (as stated by your post) mostly he was an online player. Same with Prince

He is indeed. I'm trying to learn things about him and the other players like: are they trying to go pro? Are they full-time? How old are they? Are they known in Korea (by streaming for exemple)? Etc.

Thank you! He is active and his English is quite good judging on his twitter account.

Someone has news from Park "SpeeD" Kun Il? Is he still active ?
I remind myself some awesome games of him. He seemed to have a bright future in front of him. I think he played on LOTV last year or year before ? I can't recall.

I don't think Speed is active anymore, he didn't play since august so he didn't try for ST and he's not on a CTC team. He seem to only have comeback for a few months last year (june-august, maybe off school?)

Dynamite is playing quite a lot these years, and he was signed by tsg last year and now into newly formed DLG as a pro gamer for CTC

in a DankShrine interview, TY once praised SpeeD saying that he's particularly talented (they were on KT together.) He was deciding between SC and going college and chose the latter

Honestly, it'll probably be the same pool of players for the next few years of ESL commitment (except for retirements and a few comebacks). I want to believe a few new players will break through though.

OK Im a little bit disappointed by this new. This little guy seemed to be the next TY. Hard to find new gifted players those days even on EU scene (maybe Arrogfire 12y old GM) Does SC2 on korea still attractive ? I think the future of sc2 is not in korea anymore.

Maru is still 22. There like 4-5 years before he's past it provided no wrist issues.

There are a few players coming up.
We have Percival who is 17 and is getting really good. Control is 19 and has been GM for a long time. Faint is 15 and is improving a lot. DarkZerg is also 15 and keeps improving. Queen was 14 years old last time I heard from him, but now he has kinda disappeared.
I guess the scene is not has healthy as the european one or the "rest of the world", but there are still a few guys that can improve and qualify. Shame that the former kespa guys are so unbeatable.
Percival is the one who stands a chance I guess, along with not so new names like Chance, Zoun, DRGling, Dynamite, Prince, etc.
Also, there is this guy that won a OSC tournament, his name there is Sigh...I have no idea who he is, I'm guessing Forte coming out of military, but if he is new it would be really good.

No one mentioning Zoun? He's not exactly new blood but he's new enough right?

I did not included Zoun because he is not really new.
I know Dynamite has been around since 2014/2015, like Zoun, but Zoun has played in Katowice this year, was field both by Prime and SKT (even if he did not play in 2015 when they won the Proleague), etc. He is on another level progaming-wise in my opinion.
