On a quest to rebuild the Jedi Order, you must pick up the pieces of your shattered past to complete your training, develop new powerful Force abilities, and master the art of the iconic lightsaber - all while staying one step ahead of the Empire and its deadly Inquisitors. STAR WARS fans will recognize iconic locations, weapons, gear, and enemies while also meeting a roster of fresh characters, locations, creatures, droids and adversaries new to STAR WARS. As part of this authentic STAR WARS story, fans will delve into a galaxy recently seized by the Empire. As a Jedi hero-turned-fugitive, players will need to fight for survival while exploring the mysteries of a long-extinct civilization all in an effort to rebuild the remnants of the Jedi Order as the Empire seeks to erase the Jedi completely. KEY FEATURES ● Cinematic, Immersive Combat – Jedi: Fallen Order delivers the fantasy of becoming a Jedi through its innovative lightsaber combat system – striking, parrying, dodging - partnered with a suite of powerful Force abilities you’ll need to leverage to overcome obstacles that stand in your way. This combat system is intuitive to pick up, but takes training and practice to fully master its nuances as you gain new powers and abilities along your adventure. ● A New Jedi Story Begins - As a former Padawan on the run from the Empire, you must complete your training before Imperial Inquisitors discover your plan to revive the Jedi Order. Yeah the graphics are insane and the story isn't too bad, having fun playing it so far.

I was very disappointed when I heard your force abilities are limited to push/pull and the new time slow... I wanted to fry some scum with force lightning and choke a bitch with it too. Otherwise, it is pretty well received by both critics and fans. Too bad it isn't as open as Jedi Academy or KotOR in terms of gameplay, but better this than another battlefront...

Played until now on Grandmaster difficulty but I'm losing patience. Not because it's too hard or that I die too often but I feel cheated by the game on a regular basis as opposed to the beginning where this rarely happened.
The design is just not as clever as Dark Souls or Sekiro IMO.

Enjoying it greatly as my first foray into this kind of game. That said the amount of backtracking because of no fast travel does suck D:

What are you playing it on? On PS4 the game is choppy and textures load slowly, generally feels poorly optimized and unpolished. Gives a feeling it was really only meant for higher end PCs and maybe PS4Pro and the Xbox One X or something, definitely doesn't look particularly nice in PS4.
But gameplaywise I am enjoying it a lot, writing is good so far too I think.

Playing it on PC with settings maxed because i upgraded my pc 6 months ago and stuff, even having it display out on a 1440p monitor etc.
Maybe you need a PS4 Pro :D haha but yeah not sure about consoles, guess i should have made that remark in my post xD

I hope they patch that in as a QoL change. This is one of the points driving me to insane. The 3D map doesn't really make it any easier. At least some meditation points should be reachable with fast travel

Yeah the map is hard for me to read but im a bit stupid at reading maps anyway xD

3D map is definitely a somewhat questionable choice but I got used to it. Definitely felt a lack of quick travel on Zeffo and Dathomir at some points, especially Zeffo since it has so much stuff to collect and you need a lot of power-ups to get them so you backtrack a ton. Dathomir mostly because there's so many enemies. They could have done more small quick travel stuff + Show Spoiler +like on Kashyyyk with the tram and the bird at least.
Overall though I really enjoyed this game a lot more than I expected. For Star Wars game standards it's really good. Story has some really great moments I don't wanna spoil.

This game is very weird. The story and the characters seem very bland to me. The graphics are ok but nothing to write home about and the combos/skills that you get are so few and boring. And even that little you get from the combat portion of the game seems very clunky. Except the animations, I think those are decent but nothing spectacular. Every review I read about the game gives it high scores. But why? Is it because they want to encourage EA to make more single player games or perhaps the game is actually good and there's something wrong with me, lol I just dont get it.

Tempted to get a PS4 finally just for a whole bunch of exclusives, Bloodborne especially. Long delayed playing the Soulsborne games, I assume they’re worth playing before this game?

Not sure what you expected TBH. I mean, sure, it's no Witcher 3 and it could be a bit more adult. But story'wise it is as Star Wars as it gets. Lightsabers, cute droids, light/dark force tug of war Graphics are good. Almost no bugs. Game is actually finished at release. Combat is good and demanding.
All in all a really solid game with Star Wars flavor. Which is exactly what people were wanting for a loooong time

‘Game is actually finished at release’ is quite depressing to be mentioned as a plus point for any game.
Probably will pick this up one of these days, passes the brief ‘looks good’ test and now I’m avoiding as many spoilers of specifics as I try to play games as blind as possible.
Looks like a good game with the Star Wars feel but they’re not leaning too hard on that as a crutch, as all the good SW games from my childhood were like. Dark Forces was a damn solid FPS, X-Wing and Tie Fighter were great combat flight sims etc.

I would rate it somewhere in the low-mid 80's I guess. Gun to my head: 82/100
Potential improvements: - Fast travel (at least a few points) - More skillpoints / skilltrees / different builds / RPG stuff - Decisions which influence the story

Hope I didn't spoiler too much. I tried to avoid any specifics ^^'

I completely overlooked this question.
I don't own a PS4 but I did play Dark Souls 2 and 3 and they are a must play if you like challenging games and have a high frustration tolerance.
I play Fallen Order on PC with mouse/ keyboard cause I currently don't have a working controller. Did need to rebind some keys but works good enough. So far I paid 1 month of Origin premiere, which is 15$, just for this game. That's top value IMO

I don’t disagree at all but it’s just a depressing indictment on the industry. No spoilers thus far anyway! I just look enough information about a game to whet my appetite and then play it blind from there, and I don’t think anything has really been spoiled yet. I don’t really understand people who voraciously consume everything about a game because you never have that feeling of discovery and learning, it’s like dating a girl after you’ve seen her sex tape already.

Well I expected better story and better characters. Im not saying they are bad or anything, but not memorable I guess? Probably the only thing I will remember from this game is the map design, which is pretty good. Though, like you said, I'd add fast travel on the meditation points because sometimes you cant backtrack from where you came from and having to circle around is kind of a pain in the butt. Not to mention revisiting the planets will be a bit easier and less time consuming. I know why they did it, because certain areas of the map become available after you get some force or droid abilities and because of secrets/chests/echoes. Thing is, after you unlock all your skill tree, the chests and secrets provide you with almost 0 benefit and the echoes are just boring af. I wish they added some more impactful secrets to make them worthwhile, which will make the pain of traversing the planets a bit less frustrating.
Combat wise is not bad, but having only 2 force abilities is soooo little. I didnt expect Force Unleashed type of combat, but at least something like Jedi Knight Academy/Outcast, somewhere along those lines which gives you a good sense of playing a Jedi. Of course the few abilities Cal uses can be justified story wise because he isnt a trained Jedi. However if they make a 2nd game, they better make it more fun with more force powers!
I appreciate that we got a single player game without microtransactions, no logins or online requirements, but I dont think that alone is enough to rate the game with 9 or above like many reviewers have. Even your 8/10 is pretty generous, I'd give it a solid 7/10.
