Awesome! Thanks for this. Can we get a blog with some photos or some details about your experience? Also, I think your perspective as a spectator would be great considering how controversial things were competitively at Blizzcon. Like the WoW purchases for the prize pool being capped. Did this drama spill into the attendees or was it all just good solid fun?
This is the most I got for ya, organized and ran this meet up:
Unfortunately the way they crammed everything into one day, actually made for a much less interactive experience with other SC2 folks. Day 1 was just everyone in the Arena watching starcraft, so no chances to run into and meet with people or players. Day 2 either folks were already on their way home, such as Maynarde (absent from the photo), or they were not really out in the open, with the exception being serral and a few others challenging the alphastar booths. I was asking/informing others about the WoW situation, but nobody from our scene really knew about, or heard of it.
Actually, on that note, the wow MDI/Arena controversy has made it clear, in retrospect, why Starcraft insisted on capping our WCS prize pools on warchest contributions, because had they not it may have ended up like WoW's did where blizzard pulled all funding for the prizing.
There were winnie the pooh's, most people didn't care as long as they didn't cause trouble. I didn't see or hear about anyone getting thrown out. Honestly, it was a pretty disappointing blizzcon, my highlight was the tweet mentioned above.
