What I'm wondering is if the coach lasts the season.
|
Ahh yes that too. Might as well just sign Kidd to HC already.
This is an unpopular opinion, but I like Kidd. Leaving aside non-bball talk (anger management resulting in domestic abuse), I think he is an all-time great player and a more than good coach if given the time to sink his teeth in. Plus, I think he has Lebron's ears, as Lebron is a fanboy of his. This is gonna be a wild LA season at the very least.

Nice View Of "The Shot Heard 'Round The World". OG in civvies staring up at the ball.
I'd say the 76ers were the 2nd best team last year.

Is that before or after KD and Klay went down?

Dwight MVP season incoming.

Lots of missing details, but...who doesn't let their son go to their father's wedding?

Yeah there is a lot to unpack with that story. Perhaps Cousins has no custody? But what is more likely is she wants more money and was leveraging the kid.

It is at such a bad time for me I have not been watching just following the stories and the box scores. But damn I got to catch some of the game this morning France vs USA and Gobret is a fucking monster, especially with FIBA rules he dominated the game. That and the US couldn't hit foul shots but all on Rudy being a monster!

I think the gap is closing, because Tatum Mitchell so on are still pretty darn good players. But now they need the actual best American's to beat the other countries.
|
The gap already closed 15 years ago. Do people not remember that the US missed out from 2002-2006 with much more talented rosters? We had a 6th place finish with Duncan, Lebron, Wade and Carmelo. This roster wouldn't win one game in a seven game series against that one.

Game 7. 0 Seconds left on the clock.

There are many giant upsets in that format. I wouldn't try to read too much into the results of this event.

So basically, the gap between the U.S. and the rest of the world used to be greater than the 1st seed and the 8th seed in the East.
Does anyone think that, even if they were being paid a good salary, the under the table payments would stop?
|
TBH I think formal salaries would kill whatever golden goose people think is available. Rather, the NCAA should do things like bring back NCAAF the video game and give a % to players, let them get paid for endorsements, etc.
I think schools paying kids will just result in an erosion of fan interest.

Perhaps, it has been shown in many developing countries when the policy and low level beurocrats get paid better the rates fall. Not so much because the people become less willing to do it but that others report it a lot more because they no longer see the behaviour as acceptable or justified and then people stop (or much less) out of fear of being caught.
