Hello everybody, don't know if this goes here but worth a shot.
For a while I’ve been wanting to commission a custom campaign and originally I had planned on making it on the SC2 editor but today I had the idea of using the SC1 editor instead, only to find out Blizzard removed it. ( :I)
In any case, I would still be interested in putting a team together to make my campaign using ScmDraft but I know nothing about it and I had questions about it I’d need answered before I can start hiring. Such as:
-Can you upload custom made assets? -Does ScmDraft use SC:R assets? -Can you alter existing SC:R assets?
Anybody that can help me out or is interested in helping me for fun and profit, let me know.

As a rough overview:
SCMDraft is just a map editor, it offers you anything that can be done with terrain, sprites, (standard) units and triggers alone. The editor itself does not support HD graphics (or Carbot) yet (neither did Staredit). It is no harder to get into than the original StarEdit. It looks and works basically the same, but givers you a lot more tools *like full unit, srite and terrain access, terrain flag overlays, pathfinding calculation etc.) to create and debug maps.
To include custom made assets (units, sprites, terrain tiles, whole new tilesets, AI scripts, abilities) or modify existing ones you'd need additional tools which for the most part only exist for patch 1.16 (pre RM) StarCraft. You can include modified MPQ files (data archives containing basically everything that is not core engine code) into SCMDraft without any problems though.
There's also a quite powerful "backdoor" in UED triggers (originally a way to modify the game memory by address overflows in 1.16, now for the most part emulated by SC:R) which can do some amazing stuff, but is of course some real hack work and not very intuitive.
If you want to go into deeper details, Staredit.net is the best community and knowledge base you can find concerning all things UMS related.

I have no idea what you just said, but it sounds like it can be done. :D
Going into a little more detail what I wanted to do was for example: -Commission and use custom sprites/unit portraits for Hybrid units in Remastered style -Take the Arctuturs Mengsk unit portrait (idle and talking) and modify his clothes to look like his SC2 outfit.
I'll check out Staredit and see if I can't find help there. If anybody is interested in paid work, hit me up.
