I live in the south bay and I'm moving back there in mid-august. Some times in the august-september period I'm out of town travelling with family but there's a very good chance I'll be there. I'm not really keen on SF tournism stuff b/c.... well I live there so I dont feel the need to go visit that stuff. I guess golden gate bridge, alcatraz, fisherman's wharf, perhaps chinatown, that windy road w/e you call it I forget. What else hmmmm, if you'r einto wine you could take a ride up to Napa Valley, if you are keen on baseball.... wait both bay area teams such nevermind.

You can also visit Berkeley campus. There are some really weird and freaky bars and nightclubs around 4th St but you'll need someone who can show you the places. Napa Valley and the north area if you are into nice scenery.

There's the Metreon on 5th Street and Mission (iirc), there's the Museum of Modern Art on 3rd and Mission (again iirc) there are a couple of nice parks around (I don't remember the directions to get to any of them though) there's the Ferry Building/clock tower at the end of Market Street on the Embarcadero (imo it's not that interesting, but a lot of people like to see it. and then there's AT&T (or whatever it might be named now) ballpark. unfortunately the season will be over (for the Giants at least) by the time you get here so you won't get to see any games or see inside...but I guess it's still sort of interesting from the outside. If you're coming in September you might be able to catch an American Football game. However tickets are usually pretty expensive. They're like $75 for halfway decent seats, the cheapest are $25 but you'll be seated out in the farthest bleachers.
