wondering who will the players be.. would be awesome if it was a bo7, but bo5 is okay too.
Btw. there will be a WCIII version of the HSC called The Iron Couch. Some legendary names already said theyre going to commentate and play (like ToD, Rotterdam, Thorzain, etc.) Looking very much forward to it!
^ yeah.. day 2 of group A is starting tomorrow. They're going to start a bit later, but the bright side is that there will be no big breaks between the series from now on
btw, about the format - bo3 for quarterfinals I can uderstand.. even if it's a 44.5K tournament.. but bo3 in semifinals and for a game for 3rd? that makes absolutely zero sense. Should be at least bo5.
yeah, the last games are very exciting. tbh there were a lot of very one sided matches in this tournament, but starting from the quarterfinals there were really nice games.
wow. well, tod getting knocked out by an undead is not unexpected. GG xlord
wc3 is super fun to watch. very different from bw. just constant fights constant aggression with every creep camp being contested after lvl 2 or lvl 3 depending on hero. th000 is a god.
and i recommend watching in game 2 the fight for the tome of experience in slow motion. really beautiful micro and really puts on display what this game is all about.
According to this article Blizzard hosted a hands-on demo this month and the demo was The Culling of Stratholme. That's the same demo they had used during Blizzcon and at Blizzcon it was already the full level done. Additionally worrying news from the article is that Blizz has changed the pathing of units to be smarter. Without seeing what 'smarter' means we can't be sure, but anything touching pathing is already a bad sign to me as I would hate to see WC3 pathing updated to SC2 style pathing. Anyone see any other recent Reforged articles mentioning this recent event?

It’s the first I’ve heard anything about pathing being different, or touched at all.
Have to wait and see I suppose until more comes out.
I’d rather it not be touched, if you were to touch one thing I’d make pathing and gaps correlate with the visuals better.
I’m ok wrestling with the pathing as I think it adds to the game, I play BW too.
The one thing that really does bug me is when units look small enough to fit through a gap, but they’re too big so they don’t and they go a long way around, or units look too big to fit through a gap but they can.
SC2 even if you hate everything else does this way better than BW or WC3. SC2 you can look at something and go ‘that’s a full wall’ in a way you can’t with 100% confidence in the other two.
Ugh, changes in character presentation and story towards WoW is literally the last thing I want in Wc3. Everyone I know who played both has continued to trash the story of WoW. I hope we don't get a Muradin shot first moment.
The pathing changes according to the article mainly affect units getting stuck because the calculations for their pathing would interfere with each other, leading to them running around like a headless bunch of chickens. I hope that's all that's affected, although I agree with Wombat that a better calculation of models' bounding boxes would be welcome.

I’m a bit torn. I mean personally I’d prefer it kept as tight as possible to the original.
On the other hand RTS desperately needs a shot in the arm, and I think Reforged can maybe do that, maybe. It’s got the MOBA elements, being kinda the father of that genre, and it’s for the WoW link, many of which have never played another Warcraft game.
I’d compromise on some of my preferences if Reforged was a huge success that brought a whole new generation of players into RTS
I don’t really have SC Remastered numbers to hand, it didn’t seem to really be able to do that, it just makes BW streams and tournament content look better, it didn’t seem to bring an influx of new folks to the game, at least not enough that stuck around.

Yeah I’d be OK with that.
I’ve been playing a bit lately after not playing for at least 10 years, maybe longer.
That definitely annoys me, I think you’re talking about one of my issues, I can’t really articulate it very well.
The pathing seems to re-route based on unit commands that [/i]will[/i] clash in terms of space, and make adjustments accordingly.
So on at least some occasions I’ll issue commands where chokes are involved, and unit A might be blocking a choke when they get to where the command sent them. But unit B goes around the side or something before you even get there.
I’m not 100% sure how to explain it or why it happens, combined with my visual clarity issues re units and the space they occupy it can result in really stupid and frustrating behaviour.
I think you can absolutely maintain all the good aspects of WC3 and how it works, elements like blocking units etc while making some of the more janky stuff a bit better for everyone but especially new players.
If they are going to "fix" the pathing in any way, that is going to be a whole other game, not WC3 anymore.. it can lead to units just clumping into ridiculous balls like in SC2.. I don't like it at all.
"Ugh, changes in character presentation and story towards WoW is literally the last thing I want in Wc3. Everyone I know who played both has continued to trash the story of WoW. This is really bad news.
