The game will have 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 matchmaking It will also have large open battles of up to 64 players! You did not read that wrong. Most of the game revolves around the melee combat. However, there will be things such as riding on a horse, interraction with the map, such as closing a bridge or opening a gate. Ranged combat, such as a bow or a throw.
CUSTOMIZATION
CREATE YOUR WARRIOR. Pick your gender, choose the type of body, adjust facial features, and even sculpt a face to your liking. We want you to be recognized from how you look, as well as from how you fight.
SUIT UP. Create your suit of armor: pick from gloves, arms, shoulders, chest pieces, legs, boots, helmets, and more. Color each piece to your liking and select a metal tint. Pick an emblem that represents you well, and you can even choose how polished you want the metal to be. Be anything from a viking to a crusader.
BUILD YOUR WEAPON. Smith your sword out of individual pieces: pick from blades, crossguards and grips. Want a mace instead? No problem, pick your head and handle and choose the wood type. There are hundreds of possible combinations.
Bump, game released like a week ago. I havent heard of it before that and havent played chivalry. Watched it on a stream and then immediately bought it. Having a blast so far. I love the battlefield style conquest mode most. The sound of chopping peoples head off and the immediate gratification in form of points is so addicting.

I didn't buy it personally yet but from the YT reviews and streams on twitch, this looks like pure unadulterated fun. No microtransactions, you earn gold through playing each round, you unlock more gear through the gold to play with. Combat pretty skill-based and a lot of funny things you can equip and do. Like making a character that is a shirtless fat bastard that throws rocks and melees with a cast-iron pan, then teabags knights in full armor after killing them =)
Yeah, you start with some premade "classes" that have defined weapons/armor/perks but you can make your own ones. The only thing you have to unlock are some weapon types, but they are fairly cheap. There are about 30 different weapons and none is strictly better than another, just a different type of attack animation/dmg/timing combo, though there are some joke weapons that are shit like pans, lute, rocks, training sword. Takes at most like 6-7 hours to unlock all weapons, probably fewer. After that it's just cosmetic. There's 4 types of armor, unarmored, light medium and heavy and yea you can go completely unarmored with a pan and if you're better than your oponent you can win against a full armored knight with a big sword, though it will take some time. Since the game is new most people are still very shit and it's fun watching streamers mowing through 1v5 situations and killing people left and right.
So I got into it, equally as fun as it is frustrating. I dunno which is broken, but either shields are OP as heck or kicks are just severely underpowered. Kicks need to be faster or have double the range, because as it stands people with shields just backpedal out of kick range before the animation starts. Another thing I would change is stamina while holding a shield... because as it stands if you retreat to a corner and hold a shield and 5 guys are wailing on you with weapons, will not make you drop it, one of those 5 people will have to have the bright idea to actually hug your shield, and then kick to get it somewhat down. Thats how pathetic the kick range is. You have to HUG your enemy to kick.
Currently the cheesiest thing you can do is spam rapier pokes and turtle with a shield, or poke with a short spear and cower behind your shield.
Otherwise its pretty cool.
Also I know this is against the spirit of the game, but I wish the devs would implement a dummy AI just to practice on...
They will make kicks have more range against shield soon. Rapier or short spear + shield is indeed a bit too annoying to play against right now, but its not particularly overpowered. You can already play vs dummy AI. Press Fight, select local match, do death match and add as many bots as you want. When ingame you can also open the console, the standard key is tilde, but for me on german keyboard layout was #. I'm having loads of fun with it. Note that its more a simulator of people reanacting medieval warfare than a simulation of medieval warfare. The meta is mostly 2 handed weapons, everybody trying to be robert baratheon.
cant stab anything while shield is up cant change weapon while shield is up cant trhow spear while shield is up cant bash the shield.
I believe this is all done for "fun" instead of historical accuracy. Also there's gimmicks like building stationary crosbows and firebombs.
Still, loads of fun, not really medieval warfare as much as "bunch of boys with swords and hammers".
