youtu.be I feel BW skill translates to bebop guitar more than any other offline hobby. You trade your mouse and keyboard for a pick and a fretboard and just try to keep that apm up xD

Its amazing how some 'budget' guitars sound so good compared to their 'premium' counterparts. I'll post photos later What pickup did you throw in it? I'm planning to get my Squire Strat all upgraded myself. Was me first guitar my dad got me and has super sentimental value to me, especially after he passed so would be cool to bring it back into my main circulation of guitars so to speak.

I replaced the pickups in a cheap 335-copy with Seymour Duncan Alnico 2's. Love the sound, but kind of expensive...

Expense is no option really, I’m going kind of nuts with the thing. I think my other guitars fill various other niches so I wanna just make it a blues/Hendrix machine, big Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. Ideally try to get gigging down the line, covers and whatnot, covers and that fun. Guitar gear is weird, there’s a big obvious jump between entry level stuff and mid range stuff, I think there’s a ton of diminishing returns after that, much placebo effect and much pretension. Knowing how to dial in your gear properly way outweighs a lot of small incremental improvements.

As a high school grad gift to myself, I bought an American-made Stratocaster. Other than the neck being slightly comfier (mostly due to the matte finish), there wasn't a huge difference between the two, and I ended up selling the American one a couple years back. My MIM Strat has upgraded electronics and hardware, so sound-wise it was quite similar. Now that I don't play metal anymore, that Strat is my most used 6-string guitar. I had previously gone down the expensive guitar route, but ended up selling pretty much all of them, because it just isn't worth it. With a good setup, a mid-range guitar can sound and play 99.9% as well as a higher-end version of the same thing. I got rid of my USA Fenders and am in the process of getting rid of my Les Paul. The only slightly expensive guitar/bass I am keeping is my beloved 1979 Music Man Stingray bass because I bought it before the vintage market went insane and I'd never be able to afford another one, especially one in the condition mine is in. I also have been working on my ear a ton and playing along to basically anything, so there's probably 50-60 other songs I half-know right now and could play along to, but those 5 I have down pretty much 100%, including all the weird little deviations and fills.
