In one of the gutsiest performances in GSL history, Classic scored two consecutive reverse-sweeps to lift the GSL Super Tournament 2 trophy. Behind 0-2 to Dark in the semifinals and 0-3 to to sOs in the grand finals, Classic showed that he had nerves of steel to reverse-sweep both opponents and claim the 12,000,000 KRW prize.
Classic had started the 2018 season of competitive StarCraft looking like potentially the best player in the world, but suffered a string of deflating defeats in crucial playoff matches at GSL Code S, WESG, and IEM Katowice. With his impressive showing in the GSL Super Tournament, Classic has proved that he is not to be overlooked going into the WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon.
Despite suffering such an improbable defeat in the finals, sOs may have emerged from the Super Tournament as its biggest winner, clinching the sixteenth and final Global Finals spot with his runner-up performance. Before the finals, sOs had already confirmed his Global Finals spot after defeating fellow contender Solar in a semifinals deathmatch. sOs guaranteed himself at least $14,000 for qualifying for BlizzCon—more than the first place prize for the Super Tournament.
Classic's clutch display brought a close to GSL's 2018 season, where Maru won all three of the flagship Code S tournaments while Stats, Classic, and Serral won championships in short-duration events (Super Tournaments 1 & 2, and GSL vs. The World, respectively).
I'm still feeling like sOs will win Blizzcon against Maru in the grand finals. That would be epic - sOs going for his third Blizzcon and once again he's against the person that everyone is hoping will win. Once again, sOs could destroy a beautiful storyline with his innovative protoss strategies.
Hopefully we get lucky and they're on opposite sides of the bracket.
I'm super hyped for BlizzCon right now. Last year, I didn't even watch all the games because only a select players I like to watch did make it but this year...it's gonna be mental.
skimmed the games, but the finals looked insane, ill have to go back and watch properly with sound. as for the ZvPs - as a zerg main who offraces toss, both zergs were outplayed. GG

They were all close series. If it had been the other way around where Protoss got the lead but lost eventually, I wouldn't be complaining too.

I mean if you're just going to watch one game I'd recommend Solar vs sOs game 5, there were some funny shenanigans in that game. Maru vs Rogue was fun iirc - Maru's TvZ is entertaining right now in my opinion.

Also check out Game 3 of TY vs Creator. Cat and mouse game of mass BC/tactical jump/yamato vs. mass Tempest/recalls. From memory TY had 23 battlecruisers at one stage of the game.

I would honestly rather say Rogue just played terrible in that series. Ofc Maru played well, but it was more like Rogue was completely out of his form in these days. He usually almost never lose by Maru like that 0-3.

some people would consider that game the absolute worst of what SC2 has to offer, but if you genuinely love 50 minute games where both players spend significant amounts of time clicking their gigantic air armies into the corner of their main base then yes you might like it

Yeah, I personally would recommend game 1. I thought that was the better ones of the series.

Well depends in what you like about SC2. When you love how players think strategically ahead because they can lose the game doing the one bad discussion and how they are able to come up with attack strategies on the fly then you might love this game.
Congratulations to Classic, he still doesn’t get the credit his reseults deserve.
Super stoked for sOs too! Blizzcon just isn’t the same without him. Also cool that the spot was decided by a series rather than by other results
Judging from the finals I think sOs spent more time preparing for PvT/Z, and looking at his side of the bracket, I think it was a pretty smart move. Having all three final spot contenders on the same half meant there was only one possible PvP before the finals. If he had ended up facing Stats or impact, then Solar and Trap would have already been out. So provided he made it past Keen and Rogue/Maru to the semis, all that was left was a direct match to decide it.
