I mean witcher is kinda like that, but not exactly what i was searching for and the Mass Effect-Trilogy doesn't really feel connected either.
Any suggestions?

Though the story is not continuous, the story within the zelda games tend to be linked together. hmm, and I don't really play it, but.. kingdom hearts?

Both Steam and GOG have them) which were pretty fun and are connected story-wise. I was reading this thread and was going to just suggest that. This is exactly what hes looking for and you're somehow selling it shorter then you might think. Legend of heros is a decades spanning property going back to Dragon slayer the legend of heros back in 1989. Which itself is a FF like squeal of a running series that got branched off into a complete narrative dropping the dragon slayer name. However most of the games haven't had a proper western translation with Trials in the sky being the hope of them translating their back catalog and trials of cold steel being the hope of their continuing games being translated. Also by the same company trials of cold steel has 4 games with only the first two out in the west and the fourth is coming out at the end of the year thats been announced will feature an appearance of the breeding pair main from trails in the sky.

I still say KH 1 hollow bastion is the best section of a game I've ever played. + Show Spoiler + When sora smiles right before he stabs himself in the heart is a height that other games just haven't hit for me ever. But good god did I love simple and clean when I was young. I have to buy a ps4 for KH3 and thats that.

I think Valkyrie Profile 2 isn't a direct sequel but more of a retelling of the story in an alternate timeline, but I have only done the first. Appart from that you could go for KOTOR 1 and 2 they are not that connected but it's still a follow up (altought downloading non-official patch for KOTOR 2 is a must the game just isn't finish). You could also go with Banner Saga, I think those are direct sequel. Shin Megami tensei (Persona) also are all in the same universe but they don' really have a clear story line for all the game, altough there is some episode that are more directly link. I never played any of it but for what I understand the Ultima series also are sequel but with individual story for each game, I don't really get how much it's actually good or just remember because it came first.
