A few more somewhat-noteworthy matches from my casuals:
#15 AGX (Fire Fiona) vs me (Dark Kamui) - I fail TERRIBLY
#18 AGX (Fire Fiona) vs me (Dark Kamui) - couple close rounds
#30 MDK (Fire Yoriko) vs me (Fire Konoha) - couple close rounds again
After using both Love Konoha and Fire Konoha, I honestly prefer Love. For one thing, it has a powerful 50/50 setup into 40% combo that you can do off of her throw. In addition, I find love balls more useful for oki than fireballs. Fire does give a nice boost to her usual combos, though. There's also a 50% combo you can do in the corner, but only off of a 3C launcher, so I never got to do it even once that night. (Actually it can be done off of a netural throw as well, but neutral throws have a 50% damage reduction afterwards. =/ )
It's becoming clear to me why Kamui is top-tier. She has below-average damage output imo (since her high-damage combos require you to hit with her short-range 2C), but lots of offensive and defensive options to make up for it. And lots of gimmicks. I'm considering using her as my main instead of Kira.
Lastly, I found Saki to be pretty fun, but Kamui, Kira, and Konoha are all more fun to me. In particular, I learned that it's much more difficult to rush-down with Saki than it looks in those videos of Alan White.

He does make it look a bit easy...

Bill307: Gotta get your distances down, too much up-close B > C XX super instead of B > (2)C XX A slide!
Other than that... games were pretty decent. Movement was a bit stiff and a bit too much emphasis on landing some 2ABC B&B all around, IMHO. Lots of uncontested jumping/airdashing, or that's what it looked like to me.

Hmmmm I should probably refresh this topic before posting Gamers Vision Ranbats.

Other than that... games were pretty decent. Movement was a bit stiff and a bit too much emphasis on landing some 2ABC B&B all around, IMHO. Lots of uncontested jumping/airdashing, or that's what it looked like to me. Thanks. Actually, I only learned Kamui's 2B 2C etc. combos the day after those matches were played, hence I ended up using B C super even to punish. <_<
On a side note, one thing Canadian AHF players lack in general is the ability to do Big Damage off of anything that doesn't involve 2A 2B 2C. IMO one of the reasons I do so well with Kira is because sometimes I can actually go into a beefy combo from an air-to-air j.A, whereas all I have to fear in the air is a few hits. Anyway, this means it's advantageous for us to be in the air all the time, since anyone who gets hit on the ground can actually be comboed.
By "uncontested jumping/airdashing", I assume you mean we should be confronting each other in the air rather than letting each other jump in on us? I think that's a good point that I often forget. I know I do a lot better with Kira when I consistently anti-air people with j.A rather than letting them jump in on me or trying to AA them from the ground. I should probably focus on doing this consistently with other characters as well. Thanks.

+ Show Spoiler +fucking boss. I don't care if he lost, second game against rikimaru was beyond crazy.
anyone can tell me why they are laughing after last game?

I just got into MONSTER, the doujin fighter game
It has a very interesting point system, basically you can collect points with comboing and blocking, aka with successful play. If there is a clash between moves (the active hitboxes meet), always the player with the more points wins, this is called "power break", and you can juggle your opponent depending how many points you had.
It has other interesting features too, like you can choose between arcana-like things etc.
I didn't play it against humans yet.

Bill307: Yeah, it looked like you weren't super comfortable with Kamui (and Gier Kamui is an entirely different beast to figure out sometimes) so I figure you'll get it down with a bit more practice. I won't try to get into all the specifics since AH2 Gier Kamui is so different anyhow and I'd probably mix something up =x
And yeah, gotta make people pay for just jumping around all day- though it becomes a fairly crazy dance once people get used to all the mid-air interactions that can occur. AH2 mid-air footsies are insane.
Another random thing is that, for a lot of characters, 5B is better than 2B in at least a few ways (faster, more range, more damage, less prone to 4D punish, etc.) so in a lot of cases people should get into the habit of doing 2A > 5B > 2C or whatever equivalent. Seems especially true for Kamui since 2A > 2B feels inconsistent sometimes but 2A > 5B is cake. Not always true (Kira 2A > 2B is too good, Konoha 2B slide is good for mixup or when you're too far out for 2A > 5B) but it's a little detail you'll see in Japanese vids if you're watching carefully.
-edit- 4GC Tenza XX Gier super is too good.

3v3 spoilers below...
+ Show Spoiler +sugiyama (NE Jiro (GO) Guest1 (YU) vs shimono (UR) issei (YU) Misawa (KE) I notice Sugiyama does a lot of low parry > high parry > poke. Misawa played Ken similar to me, in that he kept missing supers. Though I liked his fake walk-up throw at the end, instead doing walk-up strong fierce super. Kappo (MA) Dan (DU) Tecchi (CH) vs Towelmen (YU) Kashi (KE) Jima (DU) Kappo does not impress me. Good ending to Dan vs Kashi. Though Kashi missed tons of supers T_T. Dan is really good at doing "Backscrew Blow". (That's what one of us calls it when Dudley command-dashes under a jumping opponent and supers.) and then the finals Kappo does a little better this time. Misawa misses more supers. Did Issei get metre for KOing Kappo with a throw in Genei-Jin? o_O It said "Super Art Finish", but I guess because Kappo didn't actually land until Genei-Jin was over, it gave Issei metre...? I'm surprised Issei's leap attack in Genei-Jin traded with Dan's roundhouse instead of stuffing it. :O Sick roundhouse EX-MGB in the middle of Issei's God Mode. Amazingly he still lost that round T_T. WTF AT TWO CROSS-COUNTERS DAN?! First one I imagine was an accident and almost got him killed. Second one..... wtf wtf wtf... The ending of Tecchi vs Issei was just sad. First Tecchi tries to chip when it's pretty obvious (at least imo) that it won't work. Then Issei doesn't do his most damaging combo and lets Tecchi live. Good shit by Shimono.

Random question for Yun, when doing the genei-jin ending, they usually end shoulder, shoulder, fierce, kara jab punch. the first shoulder is usually input when the meter is still running down, but it connects after the meter is finished, since it was input before the super ended does it still not add to the juggle counter?
|
+ Show Spoiler +
yeah that's pretty odd about the super art finish giving Issei metre, i'm not sure why that happened. you'd think it would similar to the shoulder at the end of the super art, it starts before the metre ends but hits after, but doesn't build any metre who knows

Thanks again 3MC. I'm focusing on anti-airing people more often, now.
KOFgokuon: it must reset the juggle counter if it allows that many hits afterwards.
I honestly think this is one of the only worthwhile topics on TLnet right now. All of the StarCraft idiots ignore it because they aren't interested in it, and all of the fighting game idiots ignore it because they don't even post on this site.
TLnet frustrates me -_-. SRK, not really, but probably because I read only ~8 different topics on that site and ignore their general discussions forum entirely. I'm thinking of doing the same here, too.

It's worthwhile because of you Bill :O I should have went to mwc

eh, i know what you mean you just have to read threads in the general with a grain of salt and ignore anything with politics, religion, or economic policy i pretty much only read threads with funny news links, or someone asking for tech help to see if i can get stuff answered w/o making my own thread
