Rules
This is an unusual game, and as such, the rules are also unusual. The most important rule is to just not piss me off.
List of things that might piss me off:
- Being a jerk
- Failing to participate in the game
- Being a rules lawyer
- Looking at me funny
- Breaking the cheating rules from the standard ruleset
- Asking questions in the thread
Essentially, I'm not gonna spell out the rules for a bunch of adults, and due to the nature of the game, this is an excellent opportunity for me to just mod the game in a way that benefits me. See, I might not kill you if you break a rule, I might just handicap you, your ridicule you, I don't care. In some ways this game is a bastard mod game.
Just act like something resembling a normal human being and you'll be fine.

Game setup and critical information
This is a closed, very heavily themed game that due to the high amount of killing power on all sides has the potential to be very swingy. If people fuck up, their side can lose really badly. I have some experience balancing "swingy" games (see storm mafia series) so the game should be relatively even, at least the primary objectives.
Events:
The game features special events. These might range from accidents to government action to international crises. It's important to pay attention.
Cycle Mechanics:
There is no lynching and there is no night killing. Everything in the game relies on events and player abilities. Each day lasts 48 hours and the night lasts 24 hours, but there may be abilities and events that change this.
Resolution checks. All actions, unless otherwise specified, are resolved at the end of the day.
For the most part, each "phase" will work like this:
24h setup (day part 1) 24h action (day part 2) 24h calm and relocate (night)
The whole idea is that part 1 is for debating and creating situations, part 2 is for actually taking action, and then the night is to do other stuff. For example, most travelling between locations happens during the night.
Winning More:
In addition to the primary goal of your faction (there are traditional factions in the game), all players will have multiple secondary objectives. At the end of the game all players will be ranked based on their game score.
Note that winning with your faction will score you a bunch of points, so it's important to do that, but you need to keep track of your secondary objectives too.
Traits and Attributes:
Each player has a significant list of things that applies to them as a player. These may be important because of secondary objectives, events or player abilities.
Items:
The game features a number of items that have various effects and can be used by the players. Some are used secretly, others publicly in the thread.
It's important to note that a very common item held by players is a sum of cash.
Active and passive abilities:
All abilities in the game are either active or passive. The general rule of thumb is that you can use one active ability per cycle. Some active abilities have further restrictions, such as being day or night use only, or being related to special events.
All abilities, unless specified otherwise, will be resolved at nightfall (end of day).
Location:
Some events and game mechanics rely on character location. The host will keep track of the current location of all players in the game privately. Traveling between locations, for those who have the means to do so, does not count as the use of an active ability unless specifically stated.
Additional information
Sample role PMs:
Superman
Faction: Town Nationality: Kryptonian, American Traits: Handsome, Strong Abilities:- Super strength (passive): You're immune to most forms of physical damage
- Noble (active): You're unable to carry out any killings, even if you gain the ability to kill, but you can roleblock a suspected criminal every day
- Kryptonian (passive): You're vulnerable to Kryptonite.
Items:- Super Suit - Looks marvelous.
Secondary Objectives:
- Save the world at some point - 1500 points
- Help lock up a bad guy - 800 points

If 12 sign up, that's fine, if 30, that's also fine.
