Just not any time soon. I'm thinking this summer is when I'll finally backpac Europe and see the sights. I wanted to do it last year in the summer and again in the winter, but money. So I tripped to the National Parks for a few days. Didn't get to see all of them, but if you look at my previous thread and click the link to the picture album, you'll see where I did end up going.
Anyway, I wanted to ask all the Europeans and people who have been there, advice? Best destinations? Metro? Hostels? Food? Fares? I want to start planning this early as I see it will cost me a pretty penny to get over there and then to survive for 1-2 months. I plan on walking everywhere or taking the train, seeing the sights. I really want to experience the world outside of the US as much as possible and hopefully catch some SC2 tournaments if I get the chance.
So, tell me,whatcha got?

Here's where I've been: http://tinyurl.com/jyfn68t
Most memorable cities: Amsterdam, London and Vienna.
Most memorable other stuff: Austrian alps + castles, Norway's nature and The Curonian Spit.
Places I'd like to go in the future: Iceland, Italy, Greece and more Norway.
Generic tips: People in The Netherlands and the scandinavian countries are generally quite good at english. Scandinavian countries are generally expensive. And if you wanna see Esports you could consider going to gamescom 2016 in Cologne.
glhf with your trip

Thanks FuDDx! I really want to get out and see the world. I lost my passport recently, so I'll have to order a new one. I'll have it long before I need it but it's good to have.
I'm studying architecture right now in uni, so I hope to see some buildings and do some sketches around the EU and the UK that I'm interested in.

Berlin is one of the best cities I've ever visited, just unpretentious, beautiful and with so much to do. Not too expensive either.

I've heard that Helsinki is a great visit for architecture students (something about the different styles?). However, it's not cheap and a bit out of the way. I've heard good things about Austria.

Barcelona. It's a city with a huge beach, plenty of culture, great clubbing and one of the best football clubs in the world. Visiting a football match is somethjng I'd recommend since it's one of Europe's most defining features.

Unless you really really like smoking weed, you should skip Amsterdam. It's an expensive tourist trap, and it does not represent our beautiful country well. If you do decide to visit the Netherlands, pick Utrecht (TLHQ but also a lot of nice pubs and restaurants) or Maastricht.
Berlin is awesome, so is Antwerpen.

Well if you go through Utrecht, ping me and we can drink a beer together

Paris, Berlin, London, and to a lesser extent Milan, Barcelona and Munich are great all-around cities. Also, from Paris you can easily also visit various Chateaux in the surrounding countryside. Rome is also reputed to be an outstanding city, though I've never been there myself.
If you fancy European Renaissance era, then Italian cities like Pisa, Florence, or Venice are a must-see, though in summer it's swarming with people. Also, Tuscan countryside is pretty, as is the Luberon region in southern France.
If you like hills, forest, sports and friendly people, Slovenia is the way to go.
Irish cities - Dublin, Cork, and Galway - are all pretty cool and festive.
The scottish and icelandish countrysides are among the most beautiful places I've been, it's very wild - by European standards, anyways -, though life in Iceland (and Scandinavian countries in general) is expensive.
Corsica is also outstanding in terms of raw beauty, and if you show respect to its inhabitants and manage to become more than another random tourist in their eyes you'll discover friendly people too.

Thank you everyone! I've definitely planned on visiting most of the places you all mentioned. Like y0su said, Helsinki is one of those cities that I have to visit. Berlin, Barcelona, and Tuscany are also on the top of the list.
OtherWorld, Thanks for the breakdown. All of those places sound like somewhere I wouldn't mind getting lost in. I'll definitely make sure to reference your suggestions when I make my trip.
FO_nTTaX, I'm gonna hold you to that! At least a picture and a pint.
_fool, that's not my cup of tea at all, but won't hurt to check the place out to say I've been there, right?
RvB, I don't know about the football thing, but I agree, I definitely wanna check it out. Start a fight just to start a fight ^_^
seom, I like unpretentious. And I've always wanted to go there since I learned about the Bauhaus movement and Walter Gropius.

If you do make it to Helsinki pm me and I can show you around. Assembly summer is usually around the first weekend of August too.

I think it kind of depends what sort of stuff you're into. Is it nature? Art? Partying? Checking off must-see's? History? Drugs?

Heartland, I'm into a lot of things, but this is more about the experience. I want to broaden my horizons and views of the world. Mostly want to enjoy life before North Korea invades America. :p
y0su, I'll make sure to do that. I'm thinking of taking the trip between July-August or August-September. Not sure when exactly. I'll book the flight, but I won't have any concrete plans for making my way around. I like to just "do"
