I guess this is the first season where making Challenger alone doesn't qualify a person for a featured steam. I don't think this has been officially stated anywhere, and a lot of players still think Challenger will allow them to have a featured stream. This is really unfortunate for Semper, who qualified this season. I believe he is the only Challenger qualifier (this season) in NA that is not featured from previous seasons that were grandfathered in before the new rule. It's really unfortunate since it's hard enough already for an up-and coming player to get known, and getting featured from Challenger was a big motivation for players trying to get known in this scene. I can understand that TL doesn't want to be flooded with a bunch of new players every WCS season, but the list of Challenger qualifiers this season who aren't already featured seems quite low. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2015_WCS_Season_1/Qualifier I could be mistaken, but I thought Ptitdrogo who got Challenger EU this season was recently featured on TL as well. Though I'm not sure the details on that. Anyways, that's my ramble, hopefully it was at least a bit constructive and didn't just come across as whiny, just sad to see this new rule in effect.

At this point we see few new players make Challenger each season anyways, and I don't think the featured stream section gets too saturated these days. My personal bias for Semper aside, fighting for a featured spot here on TL is one of the main motivations for training hard and trying to qualify, it's going to be pretty disappointing for a lot of aspiring streamers/players. And I'm still a bit unsure what grounds PtitDrogo got featured on, not that I don't think he deserves it, he made an amazing run through the qualifier. But it still seems a bit arbitrary. Though I do understand if it's a lot of extra work to add new people each season and remove the inactive ones. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I dont think that WinterStarcraft did fulfill a single requirement except viewer numbers. I dont know about PtitDrogo. Well according to the past feature requirements you need to meet either WCS Challenger/Premier, a premier RO16 placement, or a large viewer base. Since he didn't meet the latter two options, I assume he was featured because of his WCS placement. So unless there is something I'm overlooking, the new rule seems fuzzy.

To keep things simple we decided to use WCS Premier as the cutoff point. This actually makes no sense, because there are now half as many challenger slots as there used to be, with WCS NA and EU being merged. So you've effectively cut off 75% of the people who would've gotten featured by such a system.
