I sincerely don't think FF9 needs a remake. The graphics hold up just fine to this day. So do the cinematics. Same goes for gameplay. I think there is absolutely no need to remake FF9. It's perfect as it is.

Gestures for exaples, all the ironical part of the game was made around them. Try to imagine the Don Corneo scene and the gym guys for example, in '90 I probably laughted at that, but imagining that scene with nowadays graphics and expression standards i can only think at a very weird and failed attempt to make me laugh. They have to do it way better than what I can imagine. You hit the nail on the head. You guys are acting as if it was even possible to recreate these scenes, though it's not. FF7 was made for an audience that is too mature for today's standards. People get beat up, you start the game in the middle of the slums, surrounded by junkies, and soon enough people are talking of rape while you visit a brothel near the stronghold of a pervert mafia lord who wants to fuck the male hero who's dressed as a woman. It's. Just. Not. Gonna. Be. The. Same. It's going to be a dumbed down, toned down version, and all the old farts like me with half a brain left are going to be disappointed.

If you can make GTA V like they did and get cash for killing people we can keep the tone of FF7 the same way it was when it came out damnit. I honestly don't think that the whole too mature for today's standards even holds up given the fact that violence is more realistic than it has ever been...ever ever. Toning down a remake of FF7 would be a literal shot to the foot. If they really DO do this they can kiss any fan goodwill goodbye. I don't think they're willing to do that. This is just me trying not to let my hype die. You shouldn't be so cynical fellow old fart. It's not good for our skin.

It was at the Sony Press conference and they are likely funding part of it. If there is a PC release, it won't be for a while. Also, FF15 is still in production. I will be in awe if we see this game in under 5 years, since they need to rework everything including the dialog.

I might actually buy a PS4, just for FFXV and FFVII... I also will likely be in Japan in 2017, so I certainly hope they release it then. :D edit: I wouldn't worry about the old scenes from FF7 not transfering over very well. If you play FFXIV, you'll find out they have no problem doing super silly scenes. They are quite good at it, in fact. Now I know the FFXIV team won't be working on FFVII, but nonetheless, pretty sure they'll do a good job. C'mon, give them some credit, guys.

I do love FF7 however. Its super dated in the dialog point and needs to be rewritten, but the game is fun. Its before Square went up its own ass with stupid systems for combat.
