No way such a blog has earned being spotlighted. Absolutely no way. You're being a huge rude douche towards a guy who asked some question without implying anything really bad towards Axiom. Waaah waaaaaahhhhh, look at how sensitive we are. lol. are you 9 or something? It's TB. He's salty because he has to deal with people who don't know jack speaking out their ass. I don't blame him for calling people out on it. Speak civilly and there's no problem. Be a dick and be prepared to be called out on it.
I just wonder how soft you have to be to find offense in that blog post. "Hey, I don't like being told the facts, I'm gonna get upset over it!". Or how about you think before you speak and don't spew a bunch of ignorance and expect it to be respected? That'd be my advice to some people.
Seriously if people don't think Axiom promotes themselves well and are thus confused about how we got sponsors then they have no idea what they're talking about. It doesn't go any further than that.
Consider that people are getting offended because I said the guy was "from the 5th dimension" and he was "being silly". HOLY SHIT, I AM SO OFFENSIVE. NEXT I MIGHT EVEN CALL SOMEONE A POOPYHEAD! SOMEONE CALL THE INSULT POLICE IMMEDIATELY!
Did something get into the water supply lately that made people crazy?

Seems a bit counter-intuitive to remove your account from Reddit, but then go to Team Liquid to answer angrily at Reddit comments; even when they're already downvoted and disapproved by the majority, saving you the effort and need to answer them.
I agree

I'm honestly happy you continue to interact with people this way TB. If I were in your place I'd probably have quit social media as a whole by now.
I have no idea how you even have the time for it, given all the work both within the SC2 scene and with your Youtube channel.
EDIT: I wonder how long before I see a "look at this nerd sucking up to TB" post.

In this case i just see a surprisingly angry response to someone who was asking a question and maybe genuinely unaware of that content even existing. I had no idea that a lot of it exists and i give TL like 50 hits a day and visit TB's youtube channel almost daily as well.

Lemme put it this way Torte. If your content is posted on Reddit, TL and all over ones social media and people still can't find it, there is nothing more you can do. The guy in the OP is ignorant. You can't post on /r/starcraft and not see Axiom content, that's just not possible. Everything we post reaches the frontpage. There's nothing more you can do beyond that, there aren't really any other unexploited hubs for the SC2 community beyond the battle.net forums themselves.

You think this was angry? Hahaha dude, I'm only angry at the mouthbreathers that came to this personal blog just to shit on me, because I guess they have nothing better to do with their lives.
I think perhaps you mistake British sarcasm and dry humour for anger, which is weird because you're from the UK and should kind of know how we act by now.

I mean if you personally think you've hit all the marks in outreach (I'm not going to pretend I know), and he's ignorant; then you pretty much concluded everything that there is.
If he's ignorant, why do you add to your load to inform him anyways? If your stuff doesn't reach that guy (or the others who could agree), it will in the future if it constantly hits front page regardless. The downvotes are probably in agreement in that he's at fault rather than your own.
It just feels like this response is wasted irritated breath when all signs are point to his own fault rather than a lack of effort from you or your organization. edit However, if you think he has a valid claim, then perhaps there's more to be done. If not, then I think this is pretty much something that can be just dismissed.

Well sarcasm is something the internet has yet to figure out properly.

It's not about educating him, it's about educating the people that read his comment.
Why are people so hostile to being educated I wonder? When someone in the business comes and shares knowledge, that should be a good thing, but so many times on TL, people who do that get shit on because I suppose people find the idea that they dont know something to be offensive and hate being told that. Those people need to grow up if their response to "well here, let me take time out of my day to outline our entire promotional strategy for you in public for the purposes of educating an audience" is "FUCK YOU, YOU CONDESCENDING PRICK, 1 STAR".
Maybe I'm just naive in thinking that sharing information and trying to educate people will lead to a better quality of discourse. It certainly hasn't here.

Maybe I'm just naive in thinking that sharing information and trying to educate people will lead to a better quality of discourse. It certainly hasn't here. You make pretty good content that inform people about Axiom inside and out, as well as your own youtube channel about some key critical issues (that SOSPA video did a ton of good). I think it's okay for you to not educate a couple of people.
People aren't hostile to being educated, if they want to be educated, they go to your channel. Now, if you start bringing this "education" in the form of an unfiltered emotion post; they meet you with equal disdain (word-choice?). It's just a common reaction, especially in cynical niche cultures.
I think in this particular case, actions speak louder than words. The more sponsorships, content-creation, tournaments and stuff you and Axiom do; the more it will inform people how misunderstood their perspective was. If not; the outcome is still just as valid.
In general, "educating people" is a finnicky thing; definitely a way to go about it and even then, it doesn't always work. If that question the person asked is as genuine as he tries to make it, you didn't go about it with equal inquiry on how he be could missing your stuff.

Is axiom self sustainable at this point then?
|
I'm lecturing a bit there, but I think the general message is there. I didn't particularly like your tone in that post, but I can understand the frustration. Not because it's rude or condescending but because it was just unneeded overall, and it felt like you were meeting them at their uninformed level rather than just staying steady and strong on what you're doing now (which you are confident is working out well).
Anyways, I watch a lot of Axiom stuff, I like the real-life content the most.

Yeah it is. Come our next sponsor we should be turning a profit. (oh and hi Reddit, that means there's a sponsor in the works, not that we are looking for one)

I'm gonna be honest, the "tone" of written work is often in the eye of the beholder.
I am being my usual snarky self. If people are offended by that I cannot help them.

You have axiom players playing Classic RTS ?Oh i need to find that.
TB's post are always took apart because sarcasm and cynism can be taken two way. It can be taken in the funny and ironic way or as an aggresive/douchy way.
People tends to see one of those two way and choose one, then react to it. If you read/listen to enough TB you finally get the picture that this is his way of talking and maybe i'm used to it so i don't find this offensive. But i remember at the start it was difficult to gauge. Giant douche ? or Sarcasm/Cynical user ? Well in text it's hard to know, but when you listen the tone is way easier to understand.
Well this post made me aware of stuff i didn't know about Axiom (but i don't follow anything but TL and not quite regulary) so it has served its purpose and i will check this stuff out.
TL;DR you have to learn to read the "TB" language and second degree talks or you will get offended.

Looks like the drama train has finally arrived at TL. About damn time too, reddit has been hogging all the drama for ages now.

I got a PM from the guy you banned. I pointed out how you begin each paragraph with a sarcastic remark, and then go on to explain just how each point the reddit post got wrong was wrong. I saw nothing particularly angry or insulting in the original post. Just standard TB sarcasm.
This is just a case of people reading into things the wrong way and proceeding to be a dick about it.

Drama which as usual is caused by community members over-reacting to being told that they might not know everything.

Some people get super offended by being told that they're wrong. Gotta suck to live like that. Weird thing is, its people getting offended on behalf of the random Reddit guy. I can understand though, what with super offensive insults like "he is being silly"
