You probably did something stupid that cost you the game early and they didn't want to waste any more effort. If you give up a terrible team fight and get behind by 3+ levels early game its just over. No one wants to waste time with people who "never give up".

No, I'd argue that its not over.
The only games where you cannot do anything you usually have 0 kills and the enemy will kill you easily in 10 minutes, 15 at most. If you are 2-3 lvls behind, yes you ar behind, but on most maps you can comeback. Obviously that depends on the game, but I rarely feel I can't win, except of course when team mates AFK or feed.

Most players are so serially stupid in game that there almost always will be an opportunity to make a big comeback in game. It doesn't really take much. Just pick off someone here or there, and you're in business. The tricks are being able to capitalize on these errors (requires some game sense) and making sure that your team (and you, for that matter) does not make any further errors.

I disagree. If the game is thusly unbalanced that the enemy will roll you anyway, it won't cost you any additional time to keep trying since you'll get facestomped regardless.
However, especially in the early game, being even two levels behind is not the end of the game. I've had cases where we were 9-12 in levels and still won because they mucked up the objectives and we managed to equalize and win later on.

That also depends on your composition and the ability of your team mates. I just had a game with 2 tanks, 1 healer, 1 support and 1 specialist. The specialist was ignoring teamfights happening right next to her. One of the tanks was just solo pushing a lane and the Tassadar talented for survivability but no damage. I'm sorry but no, we where not going to win that game and I wasn't about to waste time once I found out our 1 damage dealer was bad and the rest wasn't much better.
I would believe in the comebacks a lot more if the matchmaking wasn't completely fucking awful.

I only just started hero league, went 13-4, now I'm 13-14 and back down to rank 40. I don't even know what is going on in my games anymore... I have warriors who hang around the back of the fight all the time, terrible gazlowes/murky/lost vikings (last game the LV-player ran with all 3 grouped from lvl 1), healers that go for full damage, Vallas that think they are frontliners - you get the picture... If only people would then follow suggestions, but oh no, let us take boss on sky temple despite all enemy heroes being alive.
I'm so fucking salty right now!
EDIT: Finally a team of non-tards and we roll over our opponent on tomb of spider-queen. I feel sorry for my opponents who had to play with that illidan and that tassadar - they were atrocious.

Four losses in a row. All four losses were ones where one player on my team singlehandedly threw the game after we were ahead with chronically bad play all game. For three of those four losses, the player in question was rank 45+. Christ. Fix your fucking matchmaker, Blizzard.

MMR and Rank aren't that good of an idiot detector, though the current matchmakers does need improving. It should limit the MMR and Rank difference to a certain small range so that the MMR and Rank dips and spikes aren't so large.

I've played 135 games since I started a few weeks ago, and the only time I've experienced BM was yesterday...
Teammate was playing as Tassadar in Haunted Mines and just. would. not. help. us. do. anything. Wouldn't jump in the mines with us. Wouldn't help take out mercs. Wouldn't defend when we needed to pull back.
The entire game he was just yolo'ing on his own, and kept overcommitting (even against forts...).
We kept asking him to help out, pinging the minimap, etc. Never any reaction from him.
Then finally, during the last five minutes of the game, he started typing non-stop... in Spanish. In all caps. Now, I don't speak Spanish particularly well, but I understand enough to know that he was fucking angry as hell. He kept flaming for the remainder of the game, while the rest of us were completely flabbergasted.
That game was pretty much a lost cause. Maybe he didn't understand what the rest of us had been asking all game long because of a language barrier, but I'm pretty sure that pinging the minimap isn't an English-only notification.

The only thing that ever bothers me in this game is people who BM. I could care less if you ignore me or do stupid shit, I'll get over it. But the guy who is screaming and raging at the dude doing stupid shit, he pisses me off. There's just no need for it.

The point is that the current system is garbage and needs fixing. I should never, ever be matched with someone who cannot land a moshpit when he's being set up by both void prison and maw.

The system is bad in that no matter what the MMR says players that are ranks 25-35 overall just play light years more solid and consistent than what you see from players 40-50. Not that all are bad or all or good in either camp, but there are enough bad players in the 40-50 rage that you get regularly get matched up with that make the random team experience more frustrating that enjoyable.
In a 10 game playing session I got these players:
Azmodan "I'm a specialist, if you knew what that means you would know why I don't join team fights" solo lane all game long...died about 6 times because Azmodan isn't running from a rotation
Gazlowe "You guys suck, only way we win is me solo pushing" after we were better in the first tribute fight and finished it with a level advantage but then finally lost the tribute to respawns with final death counter like 6 kills for us and 2 for them...and then when we lost the next tribute fight in a 4-5 "you guys are awful, forget this game"
Sonnya dies 4 times on dragon before level 6 and then says "this character is terrible" and then goes off and AFKs...
You basically get 3 losses out of 10 for no reason other than you got the terrible player...now you may have also won 3 out of 10 because the other team had the terrible player, but when that many games are that frustrating you get the "why would I play to be frustrated?" problem.

To be honest the worse players are the ranks 10-1 who whine constantly about being paired with low-ranks. During the draft they are more interested in your rank than getting a decent team-draft together, they whine incessantly, and apparently believes the players to be at fault for Blizzard matchmaking.
If you are getting paired with a rank 40 sub-6 minute wait it is either because a) You suck and your rank does not correctly reflect your skill or b) The system does not have enough data on him yet, but he somehow managed to win multiple games making his MMR close to yours. In any case, the whining does not help in any way - it certainly is not going to improve his play if he has to spend 50% of his attention of getting you to shut up. The only thing all the whining is doing is ruining the game for everyone involved.

People who quit when behind are the worst. I don't know how that kind of person ever gets anything done in real life, or if they are depressed, or spoiled, or just weak in general, but I honestly find a quitter's personality to be outright revolting.
If I had to choose between a team of clueless high-morale noobs and a team of above average quitters I'd go with the noobs every time.

I know that this is partly what happens (that would be why I wrote it in the first place) - that however doesn't make it the rank 40-somethings fault and flaming him is not improving anyone's experience.
I'm not so sure it is terrible matchmaking design overall. It is terrible for alpha/beta/launch, but after a couple of months after launch when the influx of new players is low it will prove to be brilliant design as it largely discourages smurfs.

Absolutely. Playing a team game implies you're going to win as a team and lose as a team. Not just ragequit and screw over everyone else. Go do that in a 1v1 game where you're not hurting allies.

There is something weird going on and it may be that I tend to play in off times...I played this series of games one night queu'd with one person half the time and in three half the time. These people were rank 50 with 0 prior games and rank 47 with a major losing record...we were paired on our team with NOBODY ranked above level 12 and against teams with nobody rank 30 or above the entire night and went something like 7-2. We had the same rank 1 player on our team in 2 straight games and the first game he just asked "everybody understand that we need to X at Y" and after that just used pings and at the end of the game simply said, "man I thought we were screwed because of the low levels, but everybody played great that other team is really good" (evidently they had a 3 man team all players highly ranked) we win again with this guy on our team the next game...
but none of it explains why a 3 man team with sub 15 levels would get matched into a game with a 29th, 47th, and 50th with no experience...I would have been frustrated if I was that #1 ranked player on our team. Maybe that #1 was suppose with the no experience 3 man was suppose to balance in high ranked 3 man team, but I think it was more that a 3 man group at off hours is either just blindly matched or just considered to have a very high MMR. I still say wth is going on?!?
