Honestly I see no foul play in that scenario...only a smart calculated decision that shouldn't be punished. I can't say I agree with that but it is certainly far less damaging than true match fixing. I'm glad this isn't possible any more since almost every tournament uses the GSL format.

But more ontopic, has there been any news around the mvp statement yet, other than 'just wait patiently'?

Whoever won that series was probably going on to play Sen, who was a very scary player at the time, so neither were trying too hard to win.

But it gets punished in other leagues and sports because it's not competing honestly and does fall under the definition of match fixing (aka trying to predetermine the outcome). But match fixing is a loaded term so we usually call it something else, like 'tanking' or 'resting the starters', I guess I was being provocative =p.

But even this points to at least something going on... if MarineKing is completely innocent and just played a horrible match, it shouldn't be hard for him to at least tell us about his physical state at the match and his intent of play at the time. Even without knowledge of the betting line, the game is already weird to the extent that the casters cannot explain his play at all. It is not something such as a split second decision or a misclick that can still happen from time to time, despite player's best effort. That alone might just be a horrible game to look at again for outsiders and fans, but for a serious pro player and team they already need to look back and figure out what goes horribly wrong in the player's mind. Now with the skewed line movements they have the responsibility to make their post match analysis available to the public. The absence of such statements really points toward the guilty side. By the way, I really find this game insults MK's own statement. How can you play like that and still claim pride in playing professionally?

At no point in SC2's history, until now, has it been reasonable to say that something is killing the scene.

They are also refusing to give any explanations or reasoning behind it. Might have something to do with Prime's 1-12 Indicator this round rather than anything suspect.

Literally the most heinous thing that could occur in the scene is happening, and the major parties in the scene have not said anything about it. I don't even know what to say. And there's no valid argument that sweeping this under the rug is a good decision. The fact that we would even debate the question is a very sad state of affairs. At no point in SC2's history, until now, has it been reasonable to say that something is killing the scene. To be fair, I think a lot of people, myself included, think the game is a former shell of itself. I just think HOTS is a complete wreck compared to WOL. The Nexus Cannon, Abduct, Widow Mines, skilless units and abilities, which replaced things like early Protoss unit micro and Siege Tanks. It's just sad. For that reason, I think people just don't really care.

For that reason, I think people just don't really care. As someone who joined the scene in hots I think this is just a case of the game being different and that's why you dislike it. Calling xyz skill less because you fail at using it properly is a far cry away from being unbalanced or damaging to the game. I've seen lots of WoL games since I did join the scene and it isn't even close to as complex. I'm not saying inifinte complexity is always a good thing but honestly sc2 is insanely fun. And I doubt you'll really like lotv which is going to just add more complexity on top of what you already don't like. People have to face the fact that rts is never going to be fps or moba-like in terms of popularity and we can truthfully only expect these viewer numbers to slightly increase but more than likely continue to dwindle. Nor will the player bases ever match the numbers of those same types of games. It just isn't going to happen.
