Matchfixing is a very serious offence and accusations of matchfixing should not be made lightly. Please avoid making accusations against specific individuals unless you have substantial proof, or until further information is released. (0620 KST) |
What the fuck just happened.
Had 100 bucks on Innovation -177 opener. Got cancelled due to suspicious movements. Suspicious line move on the Game 1 on Super moved him into being a huge favourite similar to San vs Dark (I wasn't around for this didnt watch the games live today just came home to a your bet has been cancelled notification), pinny cancels all bets then Super wins game 1; then inno wins 2-1
I can't even speculate on what it means, someone trying to make it look like someones trying to destroy the scene, someone actually trying to destroy the scene, a really dumb match fixing syndicate, someone trying to draw attention away from san vs dark for whatever reason but in a really ineffective manner... who knows
Pinnacle statement soon hopefully. Kespa need to work out what the fuck is going on here

Until there is real-life proof of actual involvement of the players, this means completely nothing. euh, sure it might be possible that there is someone who wants to destroy the scene and has enough money to do so, BUT we now have 2 (known) cases and in both of them the player with all the money on him actually won. It would help if there would be incidents where that wouldn't be the case^^ Does anyone actually look at those? Are we sure that there are no such cases where someone just threw a lot of money and lost? I would guess that the betting websites are not too quick to cancel these ... I don't know, that's why i said the "known cases".

I've bet on probably 50% of the matches that have happened in the past two years. Yesterday and today are the first two bets ive ever had cancelled (I was on San ML which lost and Innovation ML which won, didnt have a player on Innovation vs Super game 1 which is the weird move from today)
I have no idea what on earth is going on right now.

I am not part of the 2+2 forum, but i read that someone there said he noticed weird stuff in hot6ix cup too?

You think there's any chance Pinnacle recently updated/changed their algorithm in some way? As in there might be a bug?
This really sucks. Worth noting is that (imo) Overgrowth is the best map out of those three for protoss, so if Super were to win one game then game 1 is probably the one. However it doesn't warrant those odds at all

I wasnt live betting like usual today due to being busy but apparently the game 2 and 3 lines got taken down after the line 1 move was suspicious to super then super won. In the end all bets got cancelled, including my bet on innovation ML to win the series.
I suggest asking some of the guys from 2p2 who were watching the games live (i'd tipped Innovation ML at -177 today so a few of them who tail me would have been sweating it live)

Is Super winning on Overgrowth really so weird though? I feel like there were a lot of PvT upsets there in the past (like Flash vs. MC or StarDust in Macro games), INnoVation himself lost to sOs there in the past. I hope all of this gets cleared up soon...

For what it's worth I also received a PM from a random person on twitter claiming they are a high stakes esports bettor they suspected match fixing in Nov/Dec in individual leagues but the person wouldn't state which matches or which players were involved because they weren't sure. I'll keep the user anonymous for now as he gave me no useful info and if he wants to make the claim he can. I have no idea if hes credible or not as he gave me no specific info.

So a few days after the previous "scandal" there's a new problem with the betting lines...are the bettors that match fixed the games that stupid? And if they were so sure that Innovation was going to lose the game does it mean that he threw the game? One of the most successful players in the whole game with a great future ahead and a high salary with SKT1? I really doubt it...

Ive heard Super -160 and Super got to being a 4-1 fav from 2 sources idk which was accurate as I wasnt watching lines in realtime. Pinnacle cancelled bets though there should be a statement soon

Disclaimer: I'm not saying match-fixing occured, but if it did
a) It might have been harder to cancel a match-fix than go through with it in the timeframe. Certainly agreement with player(s) would have been done much much earlier, not the day before match.
b) people placing the bets aren't necessarily the ones fixing, there's middlemans in use.
c) they are stupid.
My experience from gaming industry frauds is that "too obvious to be true" doesn't work.

Not even the dumbest criminal would do this in the same week with a similar pattern knowing bets were voided the last time. It's looking more and more likely that this is a scam by some malicious person, or the fixers are absolute morons.
And any sane person who even contemplated playing along would think twice after what happened recently. None of this adds up.

Waking up to this again..
"[E Sports] [Starcraft 2 - Global StarCraft 2 League ] [Match] Innovation vs Super. Your bet with ticket-ID: 433****** has been refunded. All bets taken have been refunded due to the following reason: [Your bet was placed in fraudulent manner circumventing our betting limits and system regulations.] . Thank you!"
But.. I'm not a fraud
I did bet on Super, so I mean it's not like I got hurt, but this is getting ridiculous. I would rather lose my couple dollars and know that this isn't going to get destroyed.. patiently waiting for statement.

Yeah this is baffling to me. Either someones making it look like someones attempting to destroy the sc2 scene by framing them for match fixing and there is match fixing, or someones trying to destroy the scene by framing them for match fixing when there is no match fixing and is getting lucky the right players keep winning, or there is a match fixing syndicate that is really dumb, or something else. Someone on 2p2 said Hot6cup Inno/Hero lines were weird too but cant speak to the accuracy of that. There needs to be some sort of proper investigatio by qualified people; Pinny have agreed to cooperate with Kespa, where is Kespa on this

I got the same message as Imoortal btw and my bet was on Innovation.

It's clear that Kespa need to make a statement, but no one should jump to conclusions just because they haven't made one yet. They are a large organization with lots of experience, they know what they should do.
If it makes you feel any better I have tried to reached a Kespa representative for comment and I am awaiting their response.

i know this won't be a popular opinion, but seeing this i would wish betting wouldn't be allowed at all. This is just stupid and makes it too easy and too worthwile to try and fix matches... On the other hand you probably wouldn't need these official sites anway, so there is that...
|
This looks really weird. Imo this looks like framing, but its too early to say yet. What makes me kinda suspicious is that Innovation and San would be match fixing even though they dont really need it considering how much theyve won.
