well thats impressive in itself, most people dont do it until lvl 13-14.

I do not recommend anyone doing it this early, waste of time. I don't have specialization on anyone and the only reason it was possible was due to me running a 3 mage party this playthrough (want to hear Viv Bull Dorian talks). Would have been so much easier if I had 3rd potion slot open, Bees would have wrecked those adds. My gear is shit too, the only preparation I did was make 3 basic cold staves for the mages and respec them a bit (had to get revive after failing the 3rd try). But, now it's done. My character got lvl 11 out of it, 4 more before I can even use the staff I got from the loot :p well, Bull got his +10 con amulet, so that's great.
oh goddamnit, Bull won't even get me dragonslaying drinks, I guess I need Skyhold for that blargh.

Some of the dialogue in this game is so great. Overall it has a high quality, then it reaches sudden brilliance. Was talking to Dorian just now. "I'm sure some magisters would disagree... But that's why we kill them." (Doesn't seem that good taken as a single quote but made me laugh in game.)
Loads of small gems here and there as you go through the game. Sera is a walking hit or miss joke factory. Most things fall flat and then suddenly you are just laughing at something just as bad as the previous stuff.
edit, If the game had ended before skyhold it would still have been a good game at a bit lower price point. Easily 20h content before that.

I did the fereldan frostback at level 10 as well, although only on hard. Definitely worth getting specialization before doing any of all that in my opinion.

is it me or is the AI really bad at tanking, so often they just stand there staring at me

Hi everyone,
Just got DA:I. I loved DA:O and didn't play DA2. After 10 minutes of gameplay i felt like uninstalling the game. Is it just me or the gameplay has nothing to do with DA:O? Is there a way to make it like DA;O? Mods?
I even started the game with a gamepad, then thought that was the issue, after trying playing with the keyboard and mouse i was on the verge to uninstall.
Very dissapointed, i hope i find something to fix the game!
PS: Any DA;O fans here that enjoyed the game? How do you feel?
|
You won't find much to fix the game, there will not be mods most probably. You either enjoy it like it is, wait for more patches (not sure if they will fix much) or uninstall.
Also, I played DA:O like 4 times, 2 of the times with mods. While it is very different, I still managed to enjoy DA:I.

and yes, the controls ... leaves a lot to be desired, but i'm kinda getting used to it, lol...

How did you get used to it? I launched the game in nightmare to use tactical view, it just didn't work for me? Please elaborate i want to enjoy the game

keyboard and mouse Hard mode only though.
also, is there a way to disable helms on character? lol...
|
Yes there is, somewhere in the options. As for controls...well...no way, just learn to deal with it. I turned off AI control from anything but my tank, AI is decent enough at timing shield block so I was like meh, I don't want to micro every bloody hit incoming and just focus controlling my dps dudes.
|
lol..okay, i didn't search hard enough... 11 levels in and i finally turned it off. thanks
edit: i know i sound like i'm complaining a lot. i'm enjoying the game, but things like mobs going on weird terrain and sometimes near the edge of the "world map" (happened in forbidden oasis) and weird angles for interacting with the fade rifts make it quite tiresome sometimes.

Trust me, anyone who has played the game knows the control issue. But there's nothing to be done about it now, except Deal with it

I'm well aware of that. My question is towards the players that dealt to cope with it. How are they playing the game, which difficulty? Keyboard or gamepad? Mashing endlessly attack button or using the dreadfull tactical view in nightmare?
That's what i'm looking for as answers not a deal with it........................................

if you haven't played the game to the Hinterlands, then you haven't given the game enough of a chance

Everyone who has to cope with the horrible controls plays mostly nightmare, since in other difficulties is not really required.
We use the dreadful tactical view of course. Yes, it is a freaking pain and the reason i stopped playing it until they patch it. The game has some goods and bads, it is still a decent RPG, with a decent combat system. But the story is really dilluted with all the MMOquesting you have to do in the meantime, that has absolutely no meaning. The only reason i would still play it is because i actually enjoy the combat mechanics, but i really dislike the horrible tactical mode interface and the lack of tactics on your companions to truly play it like i want to play it.
The game should had been called Dragonquest.

keyboard, Nightmare, lots of tactical, at Lvl 15 to 16
stupid melee AI and stupid AI knocking mobs out of CC annoy me far more than tactical mode at this point
melee Rogue is always #1 to get hurt or die
melee 2H Warrior doesn't seem to have this problem for some reason though
|
AI Warriors uses pretty well combat roll. AI Rogues and evade, not so much.
|
seems like i made the correct choice picking hard despite not knowing anything about the control issues :O
i'm having quite a bit of fun with my DW rogue.
any pro tips in general? min/max stuff etc.
