Wally's my favorite Flash too but he doesn't really work as the kickoff of his own series. He's a legacy character and is defined by surpassing his mentor in Barry. You can't really just start off a brand new series with Wally as the main character without it not being anything like Wally. Then again, DC got rid of Wally in their own comics and replaced him with something completely different in everything but name so I'm not sure doing Wally's character justice is even a thing anymore. Well, totally agree. I'm actually confused by all DC universes, so I prefer to stick to the following timeline (it is the cartoon timeline, not the comics; it is difficult to get graphic novels in Russia): Wally West is a sidekick of Barry. Then the Young Justice occurs, where Wally goes to the speed force and appears in the universe that is slightly slower than ours. He becomes Flash in the JL (cartoon 2001-2006), the fastest man alive. I guess I love Wally's image because of all I've watched 2001-2006 cartoon twice: at the age of approx 12 and 24. At 24 I've understood all the jokes! This cartoon is genius!!! "I'm the fastest man alive - Maybe that's why you can't get a girlfriend!"

Time just flew by, they crammed a lot of stuff in this first episode so it felt like things progressed too quickly but overall it was a solid start and I felt this was much better than Arrow's pilot. Couple of nice easter eggs :D That newspaper ending though, bringing a massive story line to the small screen :O I was pretty worried that the initial trailer gave up to much of the season, turns out it was all in the pilot.

Part of the mystery obviously will revolve around + Show Spoiler + Wheelchair-bound scientist Harrison Wells standing up, entering a secret room in his lab, and looking at a holographic newspaper from the future. Time travel is rumored to be part of the first season, with the murder of Barry's mom probably being a much longer story arc.

possibly stupid question, but there was a lawyer friend Laurel worked with at the beginning of Arrow, is it the same person as detectives daughter or am I thinking of a different person?

Barry reminds me of a Peter Parker type character. I'm not in love with any of the characters so far, but I like Arrow enough to give them the benefit of the doubt at least for a few episodes.
