Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

By introduced, I think he meant had more than one line of dialogue.

I know this show is AMC's cash cow right now and I know that the actors are fighting tooth and nail to stay in but why the fuck did no one die this episode? It's just plain cheap when all of the characters get out unscathed from a life and death situation like that. Glen should be dead. So should Tyrese. So should the baby. Perhaps even Carol? Besides that, I'm loving the portrayal of violence in the series. I know that's a weird thing to say but I think that TWD handles the gritty aspects of violence in a very nice way. It isn't over-glorified or glamorized. It's just raw. A lot of other shows would have someone cut a person in half in a single stroke and have blood gushing out all over the walls. In TWD you take a piece of wood, stab it in someone's throat and that's the end of that. That said, Carol's firework was still kind of bullshit.

Carol's firework trick is possible (albeit difficult). The only problem I have with it is that much propane should have blew up half of Terminus, at least. Also how long do you think the wearing zombie guts trick works? After a while, walkers would notice you with really old blood.

Best episode since season 1 IMO. Brutal and suspenseful, didn't feel like any of the moments on screen were wasted. There were some convenient coincidences and TV magic, but hey, it's still a zombie show. I hope they keep the quick pace for the trek to DC or whatever is coming next.
One minor nitpick: Although I liked the interaction between Tyreese and the random redneck guy, I thought it was pretty unrealistic how loosely he was tied up. I mean, it basically went like this:
R: "Hey man, I'm totally going to kill you and that baby over there."
T: "Naw, you wouldn't do that. Besides, that baby is at least three feet away from you, and you have a seatbelt around your wrists. What harm could you possibly do? Now, let me just turn my back for a sec-- hey! No fair!"

Why the fuck did he always have his back to that redneck? Tyreese deserved to die in this episode for his stupidity and chicken shit nature.
And Carol miraculously saving Rick and friends just before they are about to have their head smashed and throat slashed. Its a little to convenient. I like a good deus ex machina, but this is just a little to convenient. Not to mention aiming a firework at the propane tank. I don't see another way they could have had Carol save them all.
I did like how bad-ass she was walking amongst the walkers and shooting the Terminus citizens. And she is cold hearted, letting that woman die to walkers!

Just caught up on about 6 episodes after seeing the first 10 minutes of this premier. This episode was so well done.

too much redshirt at the start of the ep imo.
|
Did people really just expect them to kill off a main character in the first episode with no buildup or anything? If they had killed off Glenn or Daryl in the first 5 minutes, the shitstorm would have been huuuuuuuuuuuge beyond reason.

Nah people are just mentioning that the whole scene was too obvious. 4 nobodies in a row and then our 4 heroes. Obviously they were gonna stop at Glenn. I guess they just wanted a gruesome scene in the episode apart from zombies eating faces.
|
The Red-Shirt scene would have been more satisfying if Rick had been able to cut his bonds and save the entire lineup, only to have the Reds die during the ensuing scuffle.

Anyone else thinking Tyreese may not have actually killed the guy in the hut?

Pretty sure people have threatened to riot if they kill Daryl. Not that I support such action but it would be interesting to see a show forced at riot point to keep a character.
I feel like it's going to be a bit of a cop out by killing Bob and calling that 'killing of a main character'
+ Show Spoiler +
But I wouldn't be surprised to see carol die after they + Show Spoiler +
Just curious what the protocol is for stuff discussed by actors and such on talking dead (semi-spoilers)?

I feel like if he killed him he wouldn't have been so aggressive in stopping Rick from going inside (maybe just a heads up he is zombified). The guy's brain is definitely short some cells though either way.

Daryl is a ratings magnet which is why he is still alive. Which begs the question what happens in the next two seasons when they have to do... ya know, in order to move the very big confrontation.
EDIT: Of course this could change as they have already deviated way far from the comics, look at Carol for example.

Well Daryl isn't in the comics so they can do whatever the hell they want with him.
|
Still say they should have tied Daryl to the spin off and story line. Ratings gold.
