I found some more close Arcana Heart matches, but these ones also feature an amusing Japanese commentator . Kindal (Stone Kira) vs No Husband (Gier Fiona) ("Armageddon Buster" is the name of Kira's super, by the way.) Kindal (Stone Kira) vs ASA (Time Kamui)

Sounds like they are just throwing 3rd strike into the Arcana Heart engine and updating the graphics. Bill will be happy!

Furthermore, the "saving system" sounds very similar to the guard cancel in Arcana Heart, where you can use one of your homing bars to cancel out of blockstun and become invincible momentarily, allowing you to counter-attack. Then your opponent, in turn, can react by doing a revenge/homing cancel to avoid your counterattack. ... Y'know, this really does sound like Arcana Heart with Street Fighter characters (and minus the long combos).

About parries: I don't mind their absence, but I disagree with the reasons Ono gave for their absence. Novices can use parries just like they can use EX moves. You've just gotta give 'em a chance to practice parrying fireballs for a bit until they learn the timing for it. I remember I used to find it easier to parry certain things -- fireballs and jump-ins -- consistently than to do EX hayate consistently. He also said something about parries allowing advanced players to dominate novice players. But... isn't that a GOOD thing? Advanced players need to be able to consistently and easily steamroll novices, otherwise the game can't possibly be good for competition =P.

Actually, it's closer to Roman Cancels in GG. Unless you can fly into the air. =p

Sounds like Roman Cancels to me as well, much like Harem said. Bolt Yoriko vs Gier Kamui ("Yukito") This match is part of an 11-vs-11 between Gunma Prefecture and Tochigi Prefecture. "Yukito" has so far dominated EIGHT out of 11 opponents. The Yoriko player is their 9th player and he puts up a good fight. Some game mechanics: - All of the Gier attacks (i.e. the giant shark attacks) can be held and released later. You can tell an attack is being held when Gier (the puddle) has no head or tail. But if you get hit or block an attack, you lose your held attack. So you have to play mindgames: if my opponent touches me I lose my super, but if he attacks and I release the super at the same time he'll get hit. - When a player "charges-up" certain moves, you hear a sound and see a blue ball appear. The fully-charged move becomes unblockable, but the opponent can quickly recover by wiggling the joystick. A popular unblockable setup is to do the unblockable move and release the Gier super at the same time. (textbook example at 2:35 in the vid) - Chill and BloodyCobbler mentioned that sometimes players will "activate a super that does nothing". This is activating your Arcana, and it's almost always used as a universal combo breaker. It can be activated only once per round (the # of stocked supers will change from blue to red) and it drains your entire super metre. It has some recovery time where you're invincible, but you usually recover too slowly to punish your opponent. + Show Spoiler + After winning this match, Yukito goes on to dominate his last two opponents, achieving an 11-player OCV. Since these 11 matches are the only ones up on Youtube, I assume the other team didn't get a single win (ouch).
