The winner of the Dec 2007 Battle of the Bands, with 33% of all possible points - Navane!
Hooray, huzzah, hip hip etc.
Navane's songs were quite fucking awesome, definitely deserving of the votes - and I'm the guy who was semi-bashing metal to start this whole contest. I asked him what else he could give us:
He wrote:
I have several more tracks, all between the heavy and mellow I've send in this time. The music is all written and played by me, but some of it has been performed live by two of my ex-bands. They are both kinda death atm.
My current least-death-band is www.darkturnspale.nl
The top 5, in order, is:
1-Navane
2-Rob Carson
3-Star Track
4-Georg O. Kappland Band
5-No Need For Thor's Hammer
From there it descends into a million ties. A lot of people got votes and I think this went pretty well all in all. A few people didn't follow voting directions and made it slightly more annoying for myself but - hey, that's okay. Definitely was a fun thing to do and well worth my time.
If you want to hear more from one of these or the other artists, ask them in this thread and perhaps you'll get a myspace or band website to feast on.
Now that we're all stuck wondering who Berkelsauce is and how to reach the dizzying heights of celebrity that Navane has reached (His words of wisdom? "Be prepared for what you want to happen. It might happen, and you don't want to be unprepared when it does. Don't force it. Ride the wave."), we all better start working on our next great musical project now.
No, the next battle won't be for a while but hey, it'd be good to have things ready, yaknow?
On a related note, I'm thinking about starting a flash fiction thread soon. That is, exactly the same format as Battle of The Bands but 1000 word fiction instead of music. Or whatever word limit we wanted really. I don't know the interest level in that and, truthfully, I bet this thread won't catch all the potential writers, if there are any, so I still won't know! But I'm just throwing it out there. Seems like it could be fun.
In conclusion, Set 3 by No Need For Thor's Hammer was rockin. Once again - this from the guy who semi-bashed metal. It's just a great song.
Good job guys.
