In anticipation for the release of Hearthstone to the iPad Blizzard Entertainment invited some members of the community to the W Hotel in San Francisco, California to speak with the development team and get a first look at Hearthstone on the iPad. When I arrived I was incredibly exciting to pick up an iPad and experience how the game felt now that it was no longer chained to a desk. Just as Hearthstone’s free to play model allows you to play your way, by building your library as you earn packs over time or purchasing a few packs to get you started, now the game interface gives you that same freedom.
Once I had Hearthstone in the palm of my hand I was free to play while grabbing a drink, walking around or even go into another room and show a friend how my Arena run is going. I recommend you get your hands on the game in its purest form, then you’ll know what I mean and experience sense of freedom and excitement I felt.
Later I was able to sit down and speak with Production Director – Jason Chayes and Producer – Bryan Chang from Blizzard’s development team. Their insight into the development process and listening to their hopes and dreams as the game takes on a new life gave me nerd chills.
Hearthstone will be coming to Android next and then the design team will be working on bringing it to Windows Touch and mobile phones! Future builds of the game will have an adventure mode with boss fights, spectator mode and other features that the community has been asking for, check it out!
