Although that way mech is also boring as hell - tanks every game no matter what. ;P But it's the execution that makes SK's style fun to watch. Tanks are a really cool and interesting unit though. Swarm hosts, on the other hand... Sorry, but I don't find tanks more interesting than SH. Both are used for turtling, both can be fun when you see them positioned correctly, both are pretty boring if they just sit and fortify. Thats my opinion, of course, but I really cannot see how can you find tanks "cool" and hate SH at the same time. O.o While both come under the docket of seige units they are mechanically and intrisically different in the way they are played. Placing tank lines is like chess.... Placing swarm hosts are nothing similar... Because we've seen tanks used in an interesting way lately. Oh, wait, they've been used for turtling to reach sky terran. Yes, very chess-like indeed. Just think they're acting as pawns so they can all get promoted to ravens and vikings

Placing swarm hosts are nothing similar... How? You can't exactly just place Swarm Hosts wherever you want and hope for the best. Just like tanks, positioning and support is important. They fill quite similar roles, imo. Swarm hosts are generally placed in big clumps so they can send mass waves of little bugs at enemies to whittle them down over time. You don't even need to risk real units because locusts travel so far and live so long. A tank can never attack anything unless it is moved significantly further forward, and it never has the advantage of an endless mass of free units that the enemy has to fight through before being able to engage them. They may both be siege units but the tank has to be used in a much more risky fashion, making its placement and spread much more important. There's a reason that tank/viking turtle doesn't work in TvP even though swarm host/corruptor turtle works in ZvP.

There haven't been a whole lot of Terran games to watch lately, but go and take a gander at some of the TvZ mech Flash and TY have been playing in SPL lately. You think we would have games like SK vs. Reality if zergs had some other unit to combat mech instead of SH. SH are the problem because they block movement of ground units so you have no choice but to turtle to sky terran army. You say that the issue in Zerg vs Mech is that zerg doesn't have any good unit except for SHs. How is SHs the problem and not that every other unit is bad? Because SH causes boring and super passive prolonged games in all matchups we see them. So they are obviously the problem. They were supposed to be a siege unit for zerg but players use them just for passive defending and/or slowly wearing down their opponents. I said in some other thread that I would like them to do more damage and move faster off creep but have less HP and limited locust range. Then you would need to use them more activley because they couldn't just sit deep inside zerg territory, safe around static defense and creep.

No. Maybe you should give more info because I dont understand your point. Spawning bunch of free units prevents movement on the map. Sure there are players who deliberately play passive mech but I am willing to bet most terrans would push out more if they could. Now you can only usually push if your opener (like banshee-helion) deals enough damage to prevent zerg from getting a lot of SH out.
