You could try going into a Starbow channel (EU and NA both have them set up with lots of players looking for games) and asking others to observe games they may play. Reminds me of the 1v1 play/obs days back in BW ^_^

yeah, I wish there would be something changed about ZvZ. The matchup feels incredibly bad currently, though, I believe if mutas would be pushed back or maybe even completly pushed out of the matchup it would have extreme potential... lurker/hydra wars with overseer/scourge/viper support... (just theorycrafting, no clue how it would really play out)

yeah, but in the other matchups there are units to deal with them properly, wether the metagame works out like that or not is ofc to be observed. But in ZvZ you are basically left with your own mutalisks and some scourges, since hydras only have 5.43 dps against them. (less than a single marine without stim (6.52dps) for basically double the money)
Like, the list of Zerg antiair units is: Queen --> needs to be enraged, can't really be used offensively, strongly limited amount hydralisk --> explosive damage is very weak vs mutas; and needs at least the speed upgrade (and probably the range upgrade) to be of any use against mutas scourge --> ok to trade vs mutalisks, but can be outmicroed and forces you into similarily timed spire play as well; mutalisk defiler --> comes way to late devourer --> comes way to late

Tuning the mutalisk down may be the right choice for the other matchups, but Zerg needs something fundamental if ZvZ "macro" should ever stop to be just about mutalisks.

Mutalisk feel very awkward in general to me, they should take another look at the clumping mechanic.

There is potential for other plays in zvz, just hasn't been tried yet. Like viper + scourge (since scourge deals splash damage currently), slowing projectile of viper could be made a little faster though. I think it's too early to say that nothing else than mutaplay is viable in starbow, you only see muta because people assume it's the strongest and only way to play.

Regardless of whether or not he played BW, I think he's addressing a legitimate concern Starbow should be looking at. The point of Starbow wasn't to remake BW but to create an expansion to BW which allowed more options ('Additional content for a broader metagame"), and right now ZvZ appears to not be much different from how it was in BW.

Ok, I'm not sure if I've done something silly but my hotkeys seem to explode and I have to reload the default template pretty much every time I play starbow. is there a particular reason for this, and a way around it?

Just came accros this thread and watched a few games. This is awsome, and it is basically what the community asked blizzard to do. The game needs a few fixes thought but so far i'm liking it better than hots.
