I think that's the reason i don't work well here. People have a problem understanding my motives behind my posts and i have a problem clarifying it.

sciilian -= town got = scum i think you played completely different. The core is teh same; but the intention is different. I thought you explained yourself quite well in sicilian. This game you tend to get fixated on points and refuse to concede any ground. Thats normally pretty scummy to me because as scum its already hard to find an argument you believe in enough to rant about.

I don't know if that's my mistake (the pm "lie" was obviously), but when the pressure is on me, which doesn't happen often when I'm town, I have trouble scumhunting. Don't really know why.

Thats normally pretty scummy to me because as scum its already hard to find an argument you believe in enough to rant about. I think the difference is because the games were so different. There was a clear change of my play here because the lynch mechanic was different (you could compare this better to Titanic, Clarity was spot on of my meta there). When i am not a lord, i need to convince my house lord of something -> they need to convince other lords (as all the non-vote players were really not listened in thread regardless of what they posted). When i am a lord i need to convince other lords (i didn't really give a crap about what non-votes said, because they can't do shit) unless they had good enough arguments for me. I dunno, it might be something i don't know and you are right about my play changes when i am town/scum but i would not count on it 100%. We'll see about it in the future. :D At least i had a good track of who was convincing/who was not and who would do what kind of shit in town. Only thing i fucked up was that on D3 i thought Clarity would lead the town over Xatalos onto SnB lynch (although Vivax helped the town alot in that :/ ).

I all-inned day 1 of Sicilian to get VE lynched instead of Sloosh, so I can imagine that some of it came off completely wrong. I wasn't alive long enough for laziness to kill me in that game, though with the post count thing, I had a patent excuse to fuck off after a certain point each day. Sharrant seemed convinced that somehow I "argued different" than I do as town, or whatever. Some kind of meta-BS that isn't actually alignment indicative.

Look up Liquid City mafia and click on his filter. Also Blazinghand's filter from I'm a cop you idiot mafia. Plagiarized both of those scumclaims.

At least i had a good track of who was convincing/who was not and who would do what kind of shit in town. Only thing i fucked up was that on D3 i thought Clarity would lead the town over Xatalos onto SnB lynch (although Vivax helped the town alot in that :/ ). Yeah. While I wasn't convinced on vivax mainly because he played anti wincon regardless of his alignment, I wasn't against his lynch. There's no point to me saying that in thread though. If I'm pressuring snb that hard and at the same time explain that I'm fine with a vivax lynch then that takes pressure away from snb. That claim was kinda silly though. Everyone was right to immediately jump on it. I always like to think through the possibilities and talk it through with others before just changing my vote though. I dunno if that looks scummy or whatever. When I'm town I hardly ever think about if I look scummy, I think that works. Despite soft defending vivax no one ever went "oh clarity might be scum". The only scum that pushed me (kinda) was rayn and even then his argument was that I wasn't making myself readable because I stopped answering his questions which is a silly stance considering the rest of the game, and was never going to get me lynched. My problem is is that I get myself in a position where I'll never get lynched, and I try to use that to push town goals including being traffic cop when I think it's needed, but my scumhunting is sorely lacking so I can't really lead town into victory. What I do think however, is that 2-3 townies lurking makes the game 5x as hard. I think I've learned that I don't really like pm games. It's really cool to have a super strong townread (like xata in this game) where I can just bounce ideas off of, but there were so many times where people were saying someone was town because of pm reasons (I did this once, and it was solstice cause he claimed 2 shot vig), and it made it hard to scumhunt when you just hit a brick wall like that. This was specifically the case with chrom, who I said was scummy in thread all day but enough people called town in pms that I just couldn't bring myself to go against that. Yamato here's a question for you, what do you classify as a "strong suspicion"? Because I always end up with a really strong read one way or the other, but the longer the game goes the more people have "some of column A (townie), some of column B (townie)" and my read weakens and gets closer to null.

Essentially a great sounding board and an important role for town to have. In theory u and cat played off each other well.. But in practice I think got fixated too much on the theory world of Mafia. I.e. eradicating lurkers/bad town instead of top scum. Overall given the prevalence of lurkers. I do think u both played well and did the best of what was available.

I'm sure I'll get better at scumhunting if I just continue playing, which is what I'll do, but it's hard to see if I'm progressing or not.

This works best when you have a decent idea of who is town already. Early in the game, your biggest priority should be finding townreads you are confident in and establishing that you are town. After a few townies realize they are all town, you can just pick off people outside the circle until you win. Almost all town wins are created this way. Town losses usually involve this circle never being established or the ringleaders of it being killed off. Without a few people you trust, the thread devolves into infighting and town will always lose in that situation.

I guess in diff words. Having u in the thread was like being linked to a town hydra. Maybe YOU don't find the scum. But u help ENABLE the other ppl to find scum. Its an important support role. There's not many ppl I like publivally bouncing ideas off but u r one of them. I think its because u r quite impartial to everyone. Whereas most ppl have biases. Some public, some hidden.

I played SC2 Mafia for a long time before joining TL Mafia... In SC2 Mafia it was standard for scum to say nothing or at most talk very sparingly, while townies often spammed. Here it's more like... Townies are either very active or lurking. And scum are semi-active or semi-lurking, mostly semi-lurking the later the game goes on. But I always misfocus on the most inactive lurkers :/ I couldn't believe my vote for Onegu went pretty much COMPLETELY unnoticed. By then we'd decided the game was over if we got Onegu or Risen lynched, and were willing to risk what was an all-in scumclaim move. But I honestly thought Xatalos, s0lstice, Risen, DI or well.. Onegu himself would take one look at that and yell "ACRO IS SCUM, SHOOT HIM DED". I had been calling Rayn scum all game. Suddenly, instead of rallying town (or doing anything) to vote for him or SnB I just voted alongside my scumread to lynch some guy I had not wasted more than about 5 lines on all game, under the very weak pretenses of saving my town read... about 8 hours before the lynch. I was really surprised that that didn't instantly convince everybody I was scum.
