Greetings!
Ironically enough I still do not have a copy of HotS. I played WoL since it's release, reaching diamond and then stopped completely because of college. So a year has passed by and I continued to watch the tournaments, but did not play.
Now I am thinking of buying the expansion for the first time. I heard quite a bit of complaints, but as far as i can see the expansion is an improvement to WoL and has a lot of great features.
I am mainly playing to have fun and enjoy the game, I have no goal to become a pro or a semi-pro so I am interested in general playability of the game. Not interested in campaign, mainly ladder games.
I am interested in what are your opinions about the game. What you like and what you dislike so as to create a general picture of the game.
Moreover how come blizzard store sells HotS for ~40€, while the shops in the next link sell it for as little as 25€. Are they trustworthy, any experience with them?

I will appreciate any input, thanks!

Every retail shop I have seen sells it for ~25, you're fine there.
Don't know about allkeyshop specifically but I'm sure it's fine.
Game is alright, certainly better than WoL, I'd say. I enjoy using the various new units available to all races (I play random).

Blizzard I think needs to put the prices higher, because they may not be actual competitor in the market for their own game. Not sure , but I think that was the reason for it :x

If you enjoyed WoL in the least you will probably enjoy HotS more. It is simply a better game imo.

The campaign was pretty solid although a few of the units/upgrades were too OP. I played on brutal and except for a one or two early missions it was really easy, probably easier than WoL.
I played a few 1v1s but after that got bored and stopped playing altogether. So about a week and half of fun, that's it.
I got some free keys for other Blizzard games within the HoS box so I may play some D3 next.

I understand there are differences in taste, but I greatly enjoyed WoL the first year or so, and I guess HotS can't be worse than WoL. Currently downloading, we'll see.

youre buying yourself thats like slavery man
but if we all bought you... damn
anyway your campaign was too easy but the new units you provided were pretty good for competitive play, unfortunately they don't get utilized properly at the bronze level i am at but that can hardly be helped
also all sc2 discussion is about you, dont stay out of the loop man

I didn't get what horn was talking about for so long lol

your post feels like '' I like playing baseball but I dont want to buy a mit ''

hots has pretty bad balance issues at the moment not cause of the races but the horrible maps. We need rose.of.dream.

no, I am just interested what the community thinks outside of those balance-whine threads

blizzard rarely drops its prices but I dont know whats gonna happen for HotS at this point since its been released for quite a while already

I avoided it for a while as well. Once I bought it I found it to be pretty fun. There are lots of changes for low-level players, the biggest being the mothership core, which is a huge improvement on PvP. Zerg now has many more viable compositions with the addition of swarmhosts and vipers. Widow mines are hard to play with/against, and terran as a whole seems more difficult to play, what with the extra micro for widow mines and dropships, on top of all the usual required micro (again, this is for low-level players).

From what I've seen, it all depends on how much you enjoyed playing WoL..
People who were really into it are blown away by the new additions and changes to the matchups. The ones that simply had fun playing here and there find it "ok" and something that they'd buy eventually. Finally, people who were unhappy with wol and expected a general direction change/changes to core mechanics/more bw-like experience, for the most part skipped HOTS and have no regrets.
My opinion on the game tends to change but I guess I fall in the 2nd category. However, it does go without saying that HOTS did build up on WOL, added interesting units and refresh the stale metagame we got to see at the end of it. If the game stays dynamic or quickly gets figured out, remains to be seen..
As for you... In case the only reason you stopped playing sc2 is because of college commitments, I believe you'll be in for a treat.

I think mits make baseball a much better game. I know some people say it's OP or too casual that you have a larger surface area to catch with but overall it makes the game more enjoyable as you're less likely to break fingers or hurt your palm.
