You have 150$ you can go on a camping trip with people you barely know and experience new things and even learn things about yourself. And probably even come home with some money leftover. OR You can spend 150$ on something that will physically last longer and bring you surface level happiness and no real context or story to keep fondly in your memory. In other words, it's always better money spent on an shared experience or something that you can't keep anywhere but inside of you. On that note, almost every vacation or trip that I have taken to a river or camping or whatever has been mostly dumb where everyone is just getting drunk and trying to party and not trying to experience new things. Even though that sounds like a waste of time and money, I still learned many things and I wouldn't trade the experience for the money back and the weekend of doing something more productive.

If you absolutely must play a game and buy something, I'd recommend a 3DS, got one recently and its awesome. Luigis Mansion 2, Animal Crossing etc are all great fun. I've played on a Vita at shows and I do want to get one at some point but I don't own one personally so can't recommend it, 3DS has a stronger line up for sure but Vita is probably better tech wise (2 sticks - why cant nintendo do this?!)

I suggest buying an older console like a gamecube or dreamcast. You can often pick them up from a pawn shop for under 50 bucks. That usually includes a controller and a game. There are a lot of older games there that you might have missed. Crazy Taxi, Chu Chu Rocket, Pen Pen Triathalon, Metroid, Smash Bros, and Super Mario Sunshine are all examples of light hearted games that are easy to pick up and play. Kind of perfect to just chill to with the doors open and the sound of the beach outside.
