Third person allows you to look around corners and see over tall grass even when prone, which gives a slight advantage. I found it to be harder to aim than in first person though, but that could be just me.

IDK. Personally i wish that character information could be stored server-side... so people couldnt do stuff like Bring gear over from one server to the next. People are always going to abuse this, as long as they can hop between server's retaining all of their gear/the gear they find. I don't see a better solution to most of these problems without doing this... make server hopping impossible, because it strips your gear when you do it, dont let people to change their location with server hopping, but even if you strip their gear when they log in to the 2nd server, that would also fix it.
Most of this will be fix in SA with the new "mmo" server / client side architecture and they will work with valve anti-cheat system which will make the hacker job lot harder and less common. Most of the hacking / duping hacks are only cause because the client can run scripts files.
Some sort of system where if you log into X server, all previous gear is wiped. But when you log out, you still have your gear, and when you log back into X server, you keep your gear. But as soon as you log into Y server, your character is wiped. So now if you join Y, then quit and join X, you will be a fresh spawn with no gear, not allowing people to abuse server hopping
Private Hive works like this atm. Its in their design to have many server to use the same character. Many private hive dont allow you to server hope within their hive (like bmrf), you have a timer of 5 or 10 minutes before you can switch server.
From your post, I am assuming you havent touch dayz mod for severals week, if not months because many of the stuff you are pointing as flaws are already fix in the Mod, let alone the Standalone.

but it was fixed by admins and server hosts not by rocket.
also to the guy who brought up First person only... I like it... 3rd Person provides soooo many advantages vs 1st person.
In 3rd person you can peer over/around things that you are behind, and are blocking your LoS. You can also use 3rd person to spot people shooting at you, even if your character cannot possibly get a line of sight on them. It allows you to run one direction while looking another, which is helpful when you are being chased/shot at... lets you watch ur assailants while escaping.
For immersion 1st person is better, but for functionality 3rd is so much easier. Like with the grass, in reality you could move grass aside for your scope but atm you have to go in an open part to see anything because the grass blocks everything. The FOV is nicer with 3rd person as well, which is more realistic but I don't know how to edit the FOV.
There was some cool stuff at Rezzed but overall I am a bit disappointed. There was very little new stuff/progress from E3 2 weeks ago. I hope they will release it in this state, if they wait for motion capturing next week and all that stuff he wants to put in alpha it will take a long time. I hope it's gonna be out first or second week of July.

haha these people would be easy targets to spot... sprint for 20 feet.. stop.. bent over staring at the ground giving off heavy breathing sounds over the voice chat...
playing with an occulus rift would be TERRIFYING imo... "aaahh!! aahhh"" frantically scanning all around you.... i would pass out in fear lol
I dunno... i wont be satisfied with dayz standalone until there are vehicles anyhow so the release doesnt really matter to me that much since its still a long way to go until there are vehicles.
I don't see the official release of DayZ Standalone happening this year. Maybe Christmas at best and that is really generous estimate. Just might pick up the alpha to save a few bucks later down the road. Standalone in my eyes as it stands is only worth as much as an indy game $9.99 USD

for reals... kinda disappointing...i was sooooo hyped for this at one point...but can only maintain hype for a certain period of time...now its gone from "ZOMG I CANT WAIT" to "ya ill buy it and play it."
idk will be fun to play with all the TL'ers again... but its disappointing that its been soooooooooooooooooooooo delayed...
