How do you feel about bringing your team the victory?
Since I lost the game before the ace match, I thought that it was possible that I could end up losing two games today. So I put on my focus on 200%. I also think I got a little lucky. But since I was able to win in the ace match, the pain of losing the previous match got washed away.
Was it scheduled beforehand that you would be sent out as the ace?
Correct. Honestly, I was expecting to play a ZvP for the ace match today. I prepared for a match against herO but Hydra came out (laughs). I think it was actually better for me.
How was the ace match?
That build order was not something I planned. I just did what felt right.
What about the loss before the ace match?
I think our build orders got crossed over in the beginning. I fell into quite a big disadvantage after my early pressure attack failed. I could have made the situation much better for myself but I wasn’t able to so it was disappointing. But the pain of losing went away pretty quickly.
You seem to be very strong at ZvZ.
I am confident usually confident when it comes to ZvZs. That kind of mindset really ends up helping out. It’s important to not lose your confidence even if you do end up losing. I think that’s why I am able to constantly maintain a positive ZvZ record.
You don’t seem to really use hydralisks in ZvZs.
I use mostly roaches or mutas so it looks like hydras got excluded from my armies. But I still tend to use various amounts of units in my games.
It seems like Stephano had quite an influence.
It wasn’t a good influence though (laughs). But I noticed that these days, even Stephano uses swarm hosts instead of roaches.
You seem to be weak at ZvPs.
My ZvPs do not go well for televised matches. I feel like I’m back in my rookie days. During those days, I also was good during practice but could never pull off ZvPs during televised matches. What I’m trying to say is, my true skill is not actually that bad (laughs).
It must be disappointing that EG-TL has been eliminated from advancing to the playoffs.
Ever since round four when we acquired coach Park, we didn’t give up and kept on working hard. It’s affirmative now of our ineligibility to qualify for the playoffs but I think it’s fine since we can approach our games with more ease now. I think we’ll be able to approach the rest of our Proleague games with a comfortable mindset now.
How come you decided to attend DramHack Summer?
I want to attend a lot of tournaments. I increased the amount of practicing I do so I gained more confidence. Since I have to give up two Proleague matches to go to DreamHack, even though it might not really be possible, I want to put on the kind of performance that I would have done for Proleague at DreamHack before returning.
You have WCS AM Up/Downs ahead of you and your group is rather difficult.
If I end up losing my WCS AM group, then I really don’t think I will be able to show face. I am going to attempt the Up/Downs with the mentality that it’s the end of the line. I developed a desire to stand on a WCS Finals stage after watching the WCS Season 1 Finals. My #1 priority for me is to stand on the WCS stage. So I am going to approach this Up/Downs group with a firm mindset.
Anything else you would like to say?
First off, I want to thank the supervisor for believing in me and sending me out as the ace. I also want to thank the fans who constantly come to cheer us on. I really want to stand on a grand stage and put on a performance for the fans. I will increase my skills so that I can stand on a stage like that someday.
