How do you feel about advancing to your first finals ever?
At the start of this season, I told myself that I wanted to grab the championship no matter what. I am so close to making this goal become a reality that I am really glad. I have always wanted to play on a finals stage so I am really excited to making this dream come true.
Did you focus on anything specific as you were preparing for your match against Symbol?
I believed that Symbol knew all there was to know about roach related attacks so I put a lot of thought into that area during my preparations. Symbol went for a roach attack on Daybreak so I excluded the possibility of another roach attack in the next game and that's why I lost. I did get a little affected by that. However, overall, I just told myself to safely progress to the late game for all my games today.
The series was going really well for you as you won games one, two, and three in a row.
Everything went according to plan. I was also in a good situation. In fact, the situation was even better than during practice. I couldn't help but think that I was going to make it through easily today. Of course I did face some difficulties afterwards because I let my guard down.
Why did you decide to do a proxy rax build for game two on Star Station?
I just decided to try it out for once (laughs). I figured I needed to throw in stuff like that since it was a bo7 series. I also figured that Star Station was a good map for a strategy like that.
Did you expect a sOs vs Soulkey all the way to game 7 scenario to come out?
I did see it as a possibility. I was feeling uneasy. But thankfully game six went well for me so I avoided a game seven.
You showed us a mixed composition with tanks for game six.
I secretly saw his hidden baneling nest with my medivac. I figured that I would win as long as I successfully defended against that and eventually that resulted in a lot of tanks.
You must have been very cautious of nydus plays as you prepared for today's match.
I assumed that an all in was coming at me for game three. Thankfully, I was able to quickly figure out that a drop was heading my way. For today's match, I put the most priority on nydus plays. But in the end, it only came out once. Now that I think about it, I think Symbol probably would have broken through eventually had he kept going with nydus plays.
Did you have a lot of help from coach Calm?
Even though Monday through Thursday were our break days, Calm hyung really helped me out a lot. He really helped me figure out strategies for each map. I am really grateful and I hope he also helps me out for the finals.
You probably didn't have enough practice partners. Was that difficult?
I didn't really play any games on Monday and Tuesday. Instead, I just focused on coming up with build orders and did a lot of thinking. But from here on out, I'm going to earnestly focus on my upcoming match and work really hard.
All season long, you just went on and took down all the powerful Zerg players. Now only Soulkey remains.
I feel like he's the final boss. In my opinion, Soulkey hyung is phenomenal when it comes to ZvTs. I realized just how strong he was when I lost to him in Proleague. I am expecting the match to be a difficult one. But it is going to be a televised match so there's a chance that his true skills won't shine through and I'll be able to take the victory. If I do end up winning, I think the score will probably be something like 4-2. 4-1 is also a possibility.
Soulkey stated today in YongSan that it will be difficult for you to find practice partners who play like he does.
I think that's true. There really aren't a lot of Zerg players out there that are like Soulkey hyung. I also plan on only practicing with my Zerg teammates so I probably just won't really pay attention to that.
Anything else you would like to say?
I have something I need to say today (laughs). A lot of people cheered me on and had lots of expectations for me. I am so relieved that I was able to win today. I also want to thank my family for always caring for me. I am glad that I was able to repay all their kindness with my results. Since I've made it to the finals like this, I want to do my absolute best so that I can win the championship.
