The same should be with reporting cheaters. Yes, you can make an honest mistake and report someone who just was more skilled than you, but if you do it every time you lose because you are bad, then by all means, you should receive a warning, and then a temporary ban. This will discourage false reporting, and players will be more carefull about it, will watch the replay carefully, upload it here for analysis for example etc. Still, the real reports should then be taken into account and acted upon, thing that doesn't happen now...
They can even implement some sort of credibility rating, like reports from users who have raised false alarms in the future will be analysed last, while reports coming from people who have correctly identified maphackers in the past should receive top priority.
These and others are very simple measures that can be taken by Blizzard in order to keep a clean game, i am surprised about how badly they handle this increasing problem...
i think an automated system based on outlier detection of various estimated skill parameters that feeds suspicious cases to a thread like this would be a good and feasible solution.
a maphacker is stuck at a given mmr because he is terrible compared to his opponents in skills that does not involve scouting.
edit: he is probably terrible at scouting too, but he doesn't have to. ;>
edit edit: you would only have to worry about a relatively small portion of the mmr range as well, since the hacker to sc2 player ratio is negligible for most mmrs because of how easy it is to play if you don't have to scout (or macro) combined with most people preferring to play minesweeper with the mines hidden.
i was meaning on writing a blog about this, hopefully this summer.
i had just a totaly weird expierience. I played a normal laddergame and suddenly someone (i suppose a keylogger or sth.) controled my units and selected and deselected my armyhotkeys and stuff. But im not completely sure about it. My question is, could someone look at the replay and see if there are some actions in the same frame so i can get sure if i got hacked or not?

1. 12:40-13:40: Notice how he moves his entire army to guard his third against my hellions - no map vision, no scans. Just goes there without any queue. If I was going up his natural he'd be losing a mineral line.
3. 18:15-18:55: Both moving armies fighting for position, me using scans to know where his army is, him using no scan and seemingly knowing when to move through the choke - first scan used, not to see anything, just to make tanks shoot stuff.
4. 21:45-22:20: Jedi snipes another drop, a second time. wat.
These are the things I picked up on, not sure what to look for in sc2gears so can't really check that. In general he didn't really try to take vision or whatever and didn't scan at all. It's mindboggling.

Watched the replay, very suspicious, aside from everything gillon said, he never once tried to take map control besides watchtowers, no scans and he didn't build a single turret the whole game.
Nothing to say, its so blatant I will not come back for a long time...
tbh , both of you seem suspecious if you ask me(You because you over scout for a while then sudenly you dont scout for a 3rd for ages lol). You actully scout more then normal and he doesnt scout and how you could call out "MH" , "Nice map hack" by only losing a SCV in a pretty normal spot is kinda wierd if you ask me. Also your such a fucking dickhead , no way you could call maphack during that game without watching replay first. Tbh you have some evidence but not conclusive at all =). He could just play greedy and ye his army compostion is kinda bad so I guess if I was maphacking I would change that alot xd

Hmm me maphacker you are really good, bronze player ? He kill my svc scout in just one direction if you saw, he a move my army in fog of war, never scoutt all game, just send some marines to scout, he just prepares when i attack so... Normally i use to stream my games on http://www.teamliquid.net/video/streams/NbForLife, i will stream tonight so yeah i maphack a lot.
This player called fishrod basically just scouts my 3rd with no scan, engages battles and looks into fog before we engage, and gets his ghosts to target templars before he can see them, very obvious game plz add to list.
ps : it's a shame that nowadays i start my maphacker reports in bnet with "I know u guys at Blizzard dont generally give a fuck about maphacking on ur servers but i thought i should report this guy" . Hope this works. Farbauti is still running rampant on EU servers.

Are you dumb ? I am high master, and I dunno how the hell on earth you could call maphack DURING the game. Thats just as suspecious to me as his play!
total counters everything I do the whole game and how he scouts always the correct ways(doesnt bother to scoute his own natural or main , if you first scout for proxy those are pretty obvious to scout first). Not saying its a clear case , but I think its pretty wierd.
Game on whirlwind, without overlord poke in he notes in chat that i'm a "noob" for going hatch gas pool, "so greedy" and such. No early drone scout, no overlord poke beyond my hatch's vision. The game progresses, he allins with ling bane, afterwards he starts talking about how i need more drones (obviously lost ~10 in the attack and barely survived though the game was over already. The game continues to progress and he never pokes in my main with his flock of mutalisks despite never seeing the spores nor infestors waiting, no changeling no overlord no ling scout that i was able to identify by the time mutalisks were out. Continuing on, he has his entire flock of zerglings waiting for me at his fourth when i send 15-20 lings for a runby. It's possible he just judged the timing superbly well but i ran around the entire outside of the map, so it would be a feat: though possible. He finds a nydus instantly, we're talking within 3 seconds of it starting he has his entire army descending upon it.
he also goes ultra after having being severely down in upgrades the whole game, he has ~1/3 (with ultra plating that is) when i have ~2/4 after having been ahead the whole game. This could just be a strange coincidence but all this put together, especially the commenting on things in the fog of war and seemingly admitting to hacking to me definitely means he's a maphacker. In addition a low diamond (apparently drop.sc notes him as rank 54 plat despite it displaying diamond in game, again peculiar) in rank player playing mid-high masters is not unheard of if they've had a lucky run, but it is again unusual enough to be noted.
