I am 1054 masters MMR atm and there is no way I am above the promotion line in reality, I am winning barely above 50% vs all diamond players. It is possible that your single good game is based on data that has errors and thus it gives incorrect values. All other values are estimates. Example of calculation mistake can be seen few posts above in Chillyo's graph (spike to low masters). All games in that spike are based on single "good game" that probably should be set to bad. InfCereal has already prepared a new version of mem reader, but it likely is published late Wednesday EU time as a part of new version of MMR tool (don't have time to check it / publish it now).

http://www.filedropper.com/ram Instructions: Navigate to your documents folder, then sc2gears, then plugins, then MMRPlugin. You should see a ram.exe already there. Go ahead and replace that with the new one. Ex. C:\Users\Cereal\Documents\Sc2gears\Plugins\MMRPlugin

Please note that the numbers are gave a purely guesses based on end of last season's data (guesses as many gm range players have no recorded data via mmr tool / all data may not be fresh). Also worth noting is that many play their character as high as possible, stop playing and continue just when GM opens. Lots of EU data suggested this was happening. US should not be different regarding this. --> The border may be higher. But please report if your MMR was enough. I am interested can the border be estimated based on the general data from the end of previous season.

US should not be different regarding this. Can you explain in detail what you mean by this? Like 15months ago my mmr was sick high on EU, i only got top gms and i got only 7-9 points for the "average gm" player. Then all of a sudden players a lot worse got promoted into gm (players that would show me as "slightly favored" on the loading screen) for no fucking reason. At that time i was furiously checking sc2 ranks, i compared the last season stats to the current stats and some people were worse in every way, yet got promoted. I didnt make any fucking sense and left my really bitter. I was rank 1 in my masters division for like 5-6 seasons and that was a generally a really strong division.

During the first week of the new season some players stop playing after a win streak. Due to the win streak their MMR rises above their 'normal' level. Thus when GM opens and they play one game, they have better chance to make it. And when I checked the data for the first week of the new season, I noticed that many players had considerably increased their MMR during that week. Some of them might use the principle I mentioned.

While that is true and a concern, it's at least mitigated by the fact that the GM entry requirements measure the moving average* of each candidate's MMR, rather than the raw MMR value itself which is prone to streaks and therefore more volatile. We still don't know the exact type of moving average, the period, or any of the specifics so this doesn't immediately help, but it's a little more reliable than "win 3 games in a row then sit on it = instant GM" =) *Moving average is what Blizzard measures for any league change, not just GM. The MMR tool's estimation of moving average does not reflect Blizzard's internal measurement.

Also there are huge differences in the leagues themselves, there is a huge skillgab between low - mid- high - top masters. Also the different divions are not very homogen, sometimes i see divisions where a player is rank 15 but would be the leader of 50% of the other masters divisons and then i see divisions where rank 1-8 wouldnt be even rank 25 in 50% of a regular divison. It is so unclear and vague, it would much rather prefer at more exact system like the one we had in wc3 tft.
