Open world games tend to be less "deep" than their closed-world counterparts. I think it has to do a lot with how will they do the quests. If it's as big as they say it is I can't see no other way but making some quests like you have in Skyrim(radiant aka grind quests) where you're just sent to random locations to kill X/ get X/etc. If anyone can do it right its CDR. The main quest-line will surely still be epic. I read that there won't be any scripted boss fights, which is a bit sad.

Anyways, I'm excited for Witcher 3: Live Neutral and Plough Hard, which as far as I'm concerned is the working title for any and all Witcher games. How much more difficult is dark than insane? The last time I played (shortly after the game came out) I found the difficulty to not scale very well, with the first act being difficult but after that the only points where I was at risk of dying were the end dragon and the fireball/gargoyle boss in act 3, even without Quen abuse.

It's fair enough to be skeptical about the concept, but what I've been reading in otherwise sensible places can only be described as downright hate. At least wait for a demo or something. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this game.

Given the combat isn't innovative or amazing or anything, but it definitely held a challenge and punished you for mistakes. I don't really see what more you need in a setting where the story, universe and characters are the main focus.

Some quotes from the article. CD Projekt Red CEO confirms Wild Hunt will be final entry in trilogy, but not necessarily the last game in the series. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due out for "high-end" platforms in 2014. It will feature a gameworld 30 times larger than The Witcher 2 and will prompt users to make choices with "truly epic consequences."

Like, he's a Witcher. Going and killing random monsters for people is basically his entire existence. I feel like that should go a long way in keeping them from pulling you out of the story and helping you stay immersed as you do random bullshit for people. Seeing the trailer has inspired me to go finish the Witcher 1.

There isn't a single game I'm looking foward to more than this one (well half life 3 maybe). Hmmm, I think rather than story, player actions affecting the environment, in relation to story driven events, would be the best way for them to go. Like, if there's a battle for a city, you choose a side, and can actually determine if that city survives, or if it's ravaged and nearly burned to the ground. I really want them to hit home that this is a world where the player actually matters and can make a real difference. In an open-world, I expect most stories to be player made, you know. Like, you go on a quest to slay something, on the way there get attacked by an expedition of men going to attack something else, which leads to something else happening as a result of killing those men (like the thing they were going to attack attacks another city), which you then decide to slay on your own accord, saving the city. Bit of a contrived example, but I think you get the picture.

Like mmos do it at times, but they can really focus on one player.
