I'm just so used to paying for GSL I got a bit surprised and suspicious its always been that way. They tried to mitigate this at one point by shortening the amount of time between when the matchups were revealed and the time of the games. But I'm not sure which interval this more closely resembles. You're right, though. It's probably just because they wanted hype and all of the other SC2 tournaments reveal their matchups without consideration for the impact it could have.

If it comes down to the last game why would EGTL call JD? This is all about winning, so EGTL will go with their best player available and this would not be JD right now! They wouldnt call JD just because it would be such an epic match against Flash.

But except for Puma, you can't say any other players are clearly better than Jaedong. Those two other Koreans are not even in Code A anymore, and foreigners are not Koreans, enough said. And Jaedong is zerg, got the experience, and has always been clutch in important matches. Also, Puma is terran, zerg is clearly a better choice.
