Congrats on the easiest 100k of your life.
If it was os easy why didn't you won it?
I didn't say it was easy, I said it was the easiest 100k of his life.
Compare that run to winning two GSL's and getting second in another, which is what you would have to do to match the 100k prize money.
Compare the many tournaments where Stephano has made bank to an MLG...
prize money isn't equitable in eSports (at all). That said, this tournament had more barriers to entry (all the qualifiers, limited korean representatives) and demanded more consistency than almost any other. What more do you want?
I don't want anything, I'm just telling it how it is.
Qualifying for this event as a KR player is extremely tough, because you had to place well in two tournaments beforehand.
Parting was rewarded generously with a good bracket, and he took advantage.
Beating the players listed does not make him the best in the world, that's the only point. I don't like the tasteless hype because all the casual viewers will buy into it and I don't want to hear any crap about Parting being the best player in the world.
Anyone who follows the scene well enough will know PartinG isn't the best in the world. And unfortunately casuals claiming random player #1298 as the best player in the world is a risk we take by trying to cater to the casual fanbase, which apparently we have to do to keep SC2 a viable eSport. The more fans SC2 has, the more likely you are to find someone with a stupid opinion. Just how it goes.

Some (like Mvp) forfeited their spots, the truth is that very few of the koreans focused fully on wcs and instead tried to make something happen in the more immediate challenges, the quality of the games made this very clear, I can't even recall a single memorable game in this entire WCS.

i mean, i enjoyed this, really, but come on man. shit was a mess at times
Bitterdam's conversation when they didn't think they were on air is clearly what made this the best event of the year.
Wow, I managed to arrive home and start up the stream literally 1 minute before it shut down, then I looked at the brackets, it was over. Even worse, it was over in the quarterfinals ever since hero lost, nothing for me to enjoy after that point. I'll be checking the vods for the Duran brothers and that will make a total of 8 games I will have caught of this tournament.
I hope you people enjoyed it at least! Hope the next one will be more for my timezone and have more people I want to root for.

We went sort of like this - DRG>MKP>TaeJa>Rain>Life>Leenock>????
Do you realize this wasn't about finding the best Korean but tournament with worldwide representation? I don't know how could anyone who watched the regional finals or even qualifiers before call it underwhelming. This tournament is simply the largest SC2 ever had and grand finals was "only" the end. I'm pretty sure Europeans enjoyed the European finals.

Parting was playing very well, but then got beat up by Polt and Sniper in the Ro16 of Code S. It's hard to call someone the best in the world when they got bopped by an S-level Terran and Zerg, then go to BWC and beat foreigners up to a final against a Protoss.

...because every other Code S/A/B korean was knocked out either earlier in the tournament or in the many qualifiers leading up to it
Seriously, wtf? This was a lot harder to win, and required a lot more consistency, than any single Code S championship. He got third in WCS KR, second in WCS Asia, first here. That's fucking amazing. Trying to downplay the achievement is just messed up
he beat sc, alive, curious, roro, both heros i think, so not the most impressive line-up. i dont think people are downplaying his achievement so much as they are fed up with the blatant and forced hyping.
Blizzard really desperate to make this seem more important than it really is (apart from the money, which is undoubtedly a big thing)
The lack of terran really tainted the BWC for many people i guess. Blizzard is in a difficult position to integrate foreigners (most of them suck) in the tournament to make it a "world"-ish championship.
If there was even a slight increase in Korean Terran representation (like seriously just add in Mvp and Polt and maybe a Kespa guy or Taeja), viewership would have seen a significant increase imo.
Tournaments, even when badly timed for EU like US tourneys normally keep me up. This is the first one where I just fell asleep halfway through games 3-4 times.
Yeah, all this bitching about Parting not deserving of the trophy is really inane. Do you feel Barcelona don't deserve to win the Champions League because they didn't play against Real Madrid or any of the other top clubs? Will you only be satisfied if the champion beats every single pro player? If so, why even watch tournaments then?

From what I read it's not decided yet haha, and they'll have to discuss about it before coming to a conclusion. Dustin Browder thinks it'll be held at Blizzcon, but ultimately that's still one year later. So who knows

You're missing the point, I'm not trying to downplay his achievement or anything, he played really well and did great in WCS KR and WCS asia to get to this point but the players he had to beat to win this makes it the easiest 100k he will ever make in his life.
No you are missing his point. You also have to count all the people he beat in the qualifiers, which worked toward his entry into the tournament.
i think the issue most people have is that the main tournament itself was a handful of koreans against a bunch of fodder foreigners (with some surprising exceptions), while the most challenging part of the tournament was relatively obscure and just a bunch of bo3's. it also didn't help that it was almost all pvp.

Check Rains PvZs vs Killer and Sen. Those were some really amazing stomps. Creator vs Rain was also pretty good.

The presentation of this tournament was really really poor IMO. MLG does a better job and I'd consider them the measuring stick for the minimum quality a tournament needs to provide. Just look at all the problems they were having with game clients staying connected, and this was apparently not on battle.net public servers? Thoroughly embarrassing for Blizzard.

I know, that's what I mean. Dedicated fans will know he isn't the best player in the world, though he did well to win here. But the larger the fanbase grows, the more likely you are to hear casual fans saying he is, or some other player is. Just part and parcel of any growing community.
