Stephano is an amazing player and he showed it tonight once again.
About Kennigit's post match comments I need to be skeptical about the so-called "poor performance" of Hero and Taeja being due to the fact that they played at 2 - 2:30 am. While this reason might be valid for a "standard" working person most progamers play late at night and go to sleep at sometimes 4 am if not later. I don't know if this is the case of the two Liquid players but this is a sketchy justification and it was not needed. Everyone knew that Stephano was able to take down those two players (at least in BO1), why not just give him credits for his incredible performance! (After tonight Taeja is still the "hottest" player in the world after all).
Great Team match!

EDIT : Well maybe scheduling issues prevented TL to do so.
You really think TL (OR ANYONE) would underestimate Stephano? lol.
And the people bitching about Kennegit's post just make my head hurt. People always want more insight and when they get it, they say those are excuses. If you behave like that, they will just stop sharing information with us. Do you really want that?

Aye, lineup wise I think Liquid played it close to perfect, or at least it turned out that way. Stephano the only EG player remaining and Taeja and HerO still to come out. Didn't work out tonight but I'd hazard a guess that on other occasions Liquid could have pulled it off.

These two games were played between 2:30 and 3:30am korean time - hero had just played his code s matches (at around 5pm) then came home to wait for this. Scheduling matches internationally fucking sucks - its pretty common that you can be in worse or better condition that your opponent just based on scheduling (it was about 9pm EU, 3pm US when stephano/taeja played). Iirc we had basically hit the limit for delaying this set, so delaying the games wasn't really an option.
Because of the IPTL winner-stays format, you cant just schedule certain matches for better timing. There's not an optimal solution for timings right now. Ideally your players are i the best possible mental condition when they play hard matches due to the cerebral nature of SC2...it's just not as feasible as we'd like.
ggwp better luck next time Stephano won fair and square. I really wouldn't expect excuses like this from TL. Puma and JYP had to play at late times as well. If you were really that concerned about the time and their condition, maybe you should've had Haypro or Ret practice a zvz snipe build instead of leaning on the "tired" koreans. You really should've not bothered with the first 2 paragraphs and just typed the ggwp better luck next time. didn't know kennigit was the coach for liquid. anyways, go eg! He isn't.

Really entertaining games tonight. Looks like now EG will be able to win in Team-Games, having Stephano on their side

I don't think anyone on TL underrates Stephano's condition...he beat HerO at NASL decisively, and has excellent performance against the best koreans. He just played better.

Im pretty sure that's not true for every single korean team. Most teams have a set schedule, which include when they wake up, when they eat, when they play, and when they sleep. Mental health is important for players too, so I doubt there are many - if any - korean pros that will stay up till 4am playing.

Yes, I do want that.
I don't care when the games were played. If they used players who weren't in the optimal shape to play, that's entirely on them. I don't want to read about it, from anyone.

I'm pretty sure they underestimated him : since his NASL 3 victory Stephano has almost never dropped a series in ZvT or ZvP (Oz is the exception but he had still a 12/13 early record vs non-zerg top korean players and now 14/15) ; and has shown huge weakness in ZvZ... but TL just spoiled Zenio and Sheth thinking Taeja will roll on Stephano's face whatever. Well the opposite happened.
Explaining afterwards that Taeja and Hero was tired etc. (I say lol it's just not what a korea progamer is...) is a way for TL to rehabilitate themselves. Not an option.
Plus this kind of information would not be release if TL would have won... So it has nothing to do with insight.

EVERYONE has to deal with their players not being in optimal shape - it doesnt' give anyone a leg up. It's like in fighting when you come off of a training camp with bad knee or some bruises/hairline fractures. Part of the game is also pretending that you are in optimum shape and is a big talking point. I guess i can pretend for your sake that all players are robots.

It's confusing. It's like when several of their players streamed when Sheth all killed them.
On that note it's nice that EG could finally beat Liquid. It wouldn't be much of a rivalry if Sheth had manner kill them every time.

Yes, everyone has to deal with it. I could care less when I read a coach pointing out why the conditions caused mistakes in sport, I have no interest in reading about how playing at 2:30 am caused huge mistakes... And, yes, especially when it comes from someone associated with a losing team.

Not upset per se. Honestly, it seems to be my own personal view in itself. Most people would seem to prefer more information.
Will read your blog.
