And? That's exactly what every celebrity AMA does. But people on reddit like AMAs, and that attention gives reason for people like Obama to do it, so it's win-win, what's not to like?

hypocritical as fudge mayne. Wanting to be elected is a good thing, yes. see that's the problem though. wanting to be elected is... like not a good or a bad thing. it's just a thing. but being willing to use these things that you claim to think are a huge part of the problem (or whatever) in order to get elected is... kind of wrong. i mean, it would be like if i was hating on guns, constantly pushing for gun control, trying to ban guns, except i own a gun, and have fired my gun in self-defense before. to see it as a good thing... ugh, i just don't get that attitude. He doesn't "use" them and if he does he is doing something very illegal. He has no control over them, as the poster above said, that's sorta the point of super PACs. I'd say it's more like a starcraft player not immediately forfeiting the tournament just because he thinks the map pool is bad.

Ask Me Anything
Given how bad reddit's servers were hammered, I'm not surprised that only a handful of questions were answered but i'm somewhat disappointed. Hopefull he'll go back and answer another dozen or two.

How does ama prove it's the real obama? For all we know, it could be someone posing for obama, someone who is good with PR.

Dang its over TT. I wanted to ask if he had seen the South Park where he gets elected and it turns out they are jewel thieves.

Who knows. Maybe he'll spam that whole board with abortion pictures, while coercing 4chan to ax /k/ and restrict /o/ to hybrids only. It would certainly reflect the platform he's running on as president ^^.

For those people complaining....come on, it's free PR and he sort of gets to talk to his constituency and whatnot.
If you want someone else to pitchfork, Mitt Romney bought a trending twitter topic lol.

Yeah, I'm curious too. Also, link? I didn't hear about this.

Was this really legit, I mean, it was really him and not some secretary or something? If it was, then it's pretty damn cool!
Knowing absolutely nothing about the American elections, i would vote for him just for doing this, smart move i guess.

I'm not American, but I would vote for Obama because of his coolness.

I mean I guess it was neat he was on reddit but he said as much as Paul Ryan's speech on policy issues.
Disappointing honestly. Both in the quality of answer and the general rabid fanboyism about "omg the president posted on a forum in 2012."

I thought it was funny on the space program question, one Redditor got to call out the president on grammar. "a asteroid" = an asteroid :p

Basically businesses are able to purchase a trending topic either locally or nationally, and Romney's campaign decided to buy a national trend. It's been available since December 2010.
