One of the most detailed and interesting write-ups I've seen about the show yet. Day[9] really was right that there's nothing cooler than being passionate about the things that you love heh.
I can really relate to the last part of your post, as I have also found solace in the show during a harsher part of my life, and the show has also mostly cured one of my best friends' depression/anxiety problems. Not to mention the amount of heartwrenching posts on ponychan from people who had considered suicide before they found out about the show just in time. It's really a lot more incredibly powerful than even most bronies would realise, which is a testament in itself to this show's greatness.
And then the amazing community just makes the experience of being a fan of this show even more awesome.
I honestly think I'd say this blog was spotlight-worthy even if I wasn't biased towards the show.
Hopefully someone with the power to spotlight blogs will read through your post and will think the same.

10-12ish hours, it wasn't all in one sitting though, and it went through 3-4 drafts before I was satisfied. Originally the section on the community was a lot longer, and there was a section devoted to the stories of others, but I realized that the community section could be boiled down to what I wrote here, and still retain its punch, and that I could not give an honest representation of the stories of others.
<xtfftc> I like GM <xtfftc> every time I see a post by him <xtfftc> I imagine this old ex-navy man with long white hair <derpladee> and then he posts a picture of a candy colored pony
Because of the current Naniwa situation and all the unsavory drama, I feel like we need more love and friendship and less "you pathetic noob, You don't understand anything", so I'm bumping this!
Also, I laughed at this

That is all, ponies are awesome.
Consider this my call to stop being drama lamas for a few minutes ^_^
Wow, just wow. I'm just in awe... really.... about the the extent to which something that could be construed as ridiculous can change lives...Fantastic blog GMarshal; just fantastic! Must have taken quite a bit out of you to put this out. I thanked you in the "2011 Thank a member of the SC2 community thread" before I read this, and this just cemented my sentiments. Anyone can thank a random person that they don't know for doing X well, but not many people are genuinely appreciative of someone who puts forth their best efforts such as you have in facilitating and maintaining the existence of the MLP/TL community, of someone who has influenced them personally, and of someone who is decidedly genuine about their passions. Many people have been introduced to MLP through your stream, others who otherwise would have remained quiet have been made vocal, and still others will discover just what true value this show contains. Whether through your means or otherwise, I must say this: MLP and you have had positive impacts on significant demographics. *21-party-cannon rainbow dash salute*
EDIT: oops, didn't mean to post that, hit quote to c/p for a pm, accidentally hit post.

Anyway, I was going to pm this, but since I already accidentally bumped the post, I may say it publicly: thanks ^_^, its great to be appreciated, and I'm glad I made a difference. Thanks for the kind words.
Okay I am all for having a passion and really liking things.
But you are a grown adult (presumed) male, what I am about to say goes for all the males over the age of 16 on Team Liquid.
Why do you obsess over a Little Girl's Cartoon Series? I am okay with liking cartoons and stuff, I watch Adventure Time, it's an excellent cartoon but i don't obsess over it, even though it's possibly the best cartoon i've seen since I was a child myself. However, what you guys are doing, what you adult males are doing, is obsessing over a cartoon aimed at 6-11 year old girls.
Writing an article this long and this deep about My Little Pony, I repeat, a cartoon aimed at 6-11 year old girls, is far, far too much for a grown man to write.
Why do you people obsess over this shit? Please explain. Give me a legitimate argument though, you can't simple say "because it's awesome" or something relatively close to that. Adventure Time is awesome but you don't see people obsessing over it, Metalocalypse is awesome but you don't see people obsessing over it, maybe in small ammounts but not as much as all these grown men "bronies" which are arguably border-lining on pedophilia/beastiality.

Let me make a comparison. You're on a website dedicated to watching teenagers control pixelmen on a screen to defeat other pixelmen. You have 400 posts talking about pixelmen. There are probably in the order or millions of words written about these pixelmen and the people who control them. How is this healthy? Why do we obsess over these pixelmen who combat to the death for our amusment? I could make the same comparison with GoT fans, or almost any other fandom.
Anyway, there is no explanation I can give you beyond what I wrote here. And I don't obsess over this show, I enjoy it, much like I enjoy starcraft.

Yuss! Pixelmen! I also don't get the whole thing but different strokes for different folk.

That's a lovely breakdown and I appreciated reading it. I'll never like MLP and I'll most likely continue to be slightly judgmental towards fans but I keep it to myself because I am no better; only different.
