go DTs It really needs more love <3 Damn you fiqq for making me laugh while I was crying. And you know what is the third.... fourth.... worst part about Fantasy losing? We don't get to see HawaiianPig spam TL with his epic html Terror. See page 112 of SemiB LR thread for reference =P An era has ended, but we can hear a cry of a newborn beyond the wall in the East. And the prophesy speaks of the return of the king in 2052. So be patient, my friends, and remember to teach your young about what once transpired in a country far far away... So you will be able to enjoy it once more, together. BW FOREVER! But now, it gets to be SC2!! <3I just hope all the pros will switch over to Hots. Get this out of here. Nothing in the rules that I cannot state my love for a game You BW guys need to be fair, you all had your time, now it gets to be our time with sc2 for Kespa. I'm sorry if you think you're going to have anything like we did with BW. You guys will be playing the next big game in ten years and that won't be SC2. BW left too big of a pair of shoes to fill, but maybe some game in the future will manage to fill them. SC2: HoTS and then SC2: LotV. Loooong ways to go for SC2 esports ;p those two pretty much reset the scene so everytime an expo gets released, you will be starting right back at square one.
But its up to the individual tournaments and Kespa if they are going to switch over. We can hope they will, they probably will, but we dont know till hots is released.

It's my understanding that Blizzard helps fund a lot of the tournaments. Blizzard wants them to switch to promote their new product. Also, not switching would be a terrible idea. Not only would it split the community, but viewership would be way way down on WoL because most of the viewers would be playing HotS, and would want to see HotS.
It's very sad that it's all over, but it was amazing for the very long time that it lasted.

Hmm you made some very good points there. I am still a little concerned but not as much now.

Brood war is a game played on the razor's edge. Even the most skilled players can misread the other and lose outright. To claim that some over aggressive or cheesey builds are illegitimate and not worthy of a finals is to miss the point of competitive gaming; you bring everything you have to the table. I didn't cry foul when JulyZerg 5pooled BeSt 3 times in a row, and I won't cry foul now that Jangbi used carriers, proxy reavers and DTs to win. Jangbi has always played a unique and abusive style that's unlike other Protosses. It fits him, and it's fitting that his back to back OSL wins are on the backs of this kind of play. I'm a Fantasy fan too. I wanted a Fantasy 3-0 to happen so that he could claim a perfect OSL run. I didn't get that, but I got some solid Brood War, the likes of which we haven't seen for a while (thanks, Proleague), and the likes of which we won't see for a long time.
I think it was more of a psychological edge rather than a gaming/skill edge. Jangbi was the underdog and had less to loose imho. That's why he went for those risky builds, because he knew he'd be at a disadvantage in textbook macro games. Theses games were very poker-like, a lot of mind games involved, a bit like Effort vs Flash.
But anyway it has always been part of the game, I'm not discrediting Jangbi's win.

EDIT: Linked wrong video sry

That video works. The sound is only messed up till the 34minute mark but that's before any of the matches.

Still disappointed in how it ended though.. I was hoping for a final game on 2-2 with some stormuuu and an epic game in general :/

I don't suppose anyone has a 1900x1080 wallpaper of all the OSL winners (including Savior)?

Fantasy fanboying is strong in this thread. Jangbi beats him 2 finals in a row and people talking like he doesn't deserve it or something because he didn't play how they like, so silly, sound like Idra. Yea it's too bad that life isn't a fairytale and BW couldn't end on the greatest long game of all time, but Jangbi still earned his win and claiming Fantasy is a better player doesn't really make sense or mean anything, no one cares who is "better" by bias subjective opinions of fans of said player, they care who the champion is. Being unpredictable and willing to "cheese" at any time has been a strenght of many champions, those who play greedy or don't prepare for that seal their own fate. Grats Jangbi.

Thanks. A lot of these brood war things I can never find english vods and after the event they never seem to be running or available.

Indeed that read was epic, but the start says 'there can only be one champion' and that's what makes it prestigous?
I think that's every tournament in the world -_-

"The better player"
Let's think about what that means. Some players may think playing for long games means someone has more skill, and some find high skill in finding well timed rushes or strategies to exploit map terrain. Many people have many ways to describe who's the best player.
Me? I define the better player as the one who wins. He who wins under pressure. It is these players' jobs to find the best possible method to win. How well someone micros mutas, vultures, high templars, or m&m are fun concepts to talk about. Discussing who does what and how well is really exciting to talk about too.
Well, the facts are that he who wins is the greatest, because winning or losing = the only results EVER in the history of this game. Great players in this game were only defined by their ability to win. Did players ever get the "vulture micro of the year" award and paid cash for it (if so, then I guess I lack sc knowledge)? You could have the most incredible micro, builds, and strategy all along with incredible innovation.... but guess what... if you don't win, it doesn't mean shit.
Jangbi won the last BW OSL finals ever. For me, I was laughing when I watched those DTs do their thing, because when I first switched over to BW after original sc, I remember the one reason I didn't play terran against protoss was because of that one unit... haha.

It was quite the match, even if the last match left me some what unsatisfied, I did love the dragoon lift and the carriers that were in the previous games. The carrier were a grim reminder of what the last OSL ended in

And the inevitable broodwar vs sc2, macro vs cheese war begins. I am prone to defend sc2 simply because its the game I play, but that doesnt mean I need to bash bw and a reverse situation is also uncalled for. People will alway find a reason to laud bw as the golden game and claim sc2 is shit, and if thats what you believe then its probably time for you to stop following the starcraft scene. Sc2 is evolving constantly, and well see where it ends, and if can ever match the greatness of bw. I personally just like to see skilled players play these games, and play them myself. This finals, while cool, looked a lot like many sc2 finals, and thats fine with me.

wait what? Who has brought up sc2 lately in this thread? Very much not inevitable.
