General Hype: -If Jangbi wins he will be the first since Boxer to win 2 OSL's in a row. -If Fantasy wins 3-0 he will be the first since Boxer to win OSL without dropping a game -Fantasy is one of three players in OSL history to make the finals 3 times in a row. The others are Boxer and Flash. With OSL for Starcraft ending, nobody will ever have the chance to make the finals 4 times in a row. -Fantasy is also one of three players in OSL history to make the finals 5 times. The others are Boxer (who made it 6 times) and July. -Fantasy lost 3-2 the first time he faced Stork in OSL finals, only to win 3-0 the second time. Can he do it again? Game play: Fantasy should be considered the favorite based on recent results, however, Jangbi cannot be counted out! Fantasy 28-4 (87.5%) since the last OSL finals 8-0 against Protoss during that time including victories over Stork and Stats ELO: 2362 (peak), rank 1 ELO vP: 2272 (peak), rank 1 Map stats: 4-0 on Neo Electric Circuit (0-0 vP), 2-0 on Electric Circuit (1-0 vP) 4-0 on Neo Ground Zero (1-0 vP), 3-1 on Ground Zero (0-0 vP) 4-2 on New Sniper Ridge (1-0 vP), 4-0 on Sniper Ridge (2-0 vP) 9-2 on Gladiator (3-1 vP) Head-to-head: Fanasty 7 - 6 Jangbi Jangbi 21-16 since last OSL, but 13-6 since the start of this OSL 6-4 against Terran since last OSL, but 3-1 since start of this OSL including a victory over #2 ranked Flash ELO: 2209 (peak: 2305 in Feb 2009), rank 6 ELO vT: 2125 (peak: 2260), not ranked in top 10 Map stats: 0-4 on Neo Electric Circuit (0-0 vT), 1-1 on Electric Circuit (0-0 vT) 5-0 on Neo Ground Zero (1-0 vT), 2-2 on Ground Zero (2-1 vT) 5-1 on New Sniper Ridge (1-1 vT), 0-1 on Sniper Ridge (0-0 vT) 9-2 on Gladiator (4-0 vT) Historically these two are very evenly matched as this thread proves. And with the exception of Electric Circuit they appear evenly matched on the maps, perhaps with a slight edge to Fantasy. Statistically it would seem this is Fantasy's OSL to win and that despite being the challenger he should be the favorite, however, last OSL it was Fantasy's OSL to win, whereas Jangbi suddenly recovered from one of the worst slumps in progaming history, barely squeezed into the OSL (only qualified due to a wildcard round that happened due to a retirement), but then managed to beat not only Fantasy, but Flash as well. Since then, Jangbi started falling back into a slump only to suddenly revitalize in time for this tournament. | ||
