This enforces certain attitudes and de-emphasizes certain aspects of the game (such as drafting). Chinese teams treat solo pub play as a separate and completely different game that they play in their free time. This is an attitude carried over from DotA, and IMO it has an effect on their play. Dont know about other teams, but CLG.eu basically always scrim when all of their players are available. Some go to university, so its only possible from 7 to 11 though. But they never play solo q at that time, so I dont know how they could scrim more. And they dont seem to put any value in solo q other than for practicing certain champs. M5 also seems to scrim a lot, probably even more.

It's no coincidence that they are the two strongest NA/EU teams by some margin. That's why I was even more so surprised at M5's choice to not counter CLG.eu's teamcomp in game 4. M5 did deliberately hide their game strategy and teamcomp preparation heading into an IEM last year, but I'm surprised that they might still not have the confidence to demonstrate their near full potential in all competitions now (perhaps keeping a couple cheeses up their sleeves for series play), especially considering that the online competitions these days all involve $1000+ first place prizes.

Its no coincidence that they're seeing so much success. There is of course, still the issue of drilling, but that's been discussed before--without subs/b-team drilling things such as 1v1s is somewhat impractical.

It's interesting to see Riot giving everyone permission to monetize LoL videos. What's the policy on this for other big titles?
