People in positions of authority or privilege are held to a higher standard, whether they like it or not. This is true in all parts of society including sports, politics, entertainment, etc.

Asians do not find the work "gook" offensive.. infact most would probably look at you with a "huh?" expression. Koreans might.. but there is more than just Koreans in Asia.
Gook comes from Hanguk which is the Korean language word for Korea. ...Really? That's it? So what's the justification for "gook" being a racial slur? Is it like saying that all Asians are the same, or something? That is completely baseless and he won't be able to substantiate it in any way.

I do not understand the purpose of this thread unless you were massively offended by him, if so, just blacklist him and get on with your life.
Destiny streams for a living - trying to denounce him like this is tantimount to standing up at work and shouting about how one of your colleagues has done something naughty and should be punished. If someone at my work (or really any work) stood up and called someone else a fucking gook, they would be fired. Almost immediately. A self-run internet stream is not a professional office environment.

Not quite. It was used in vietnam by American soldiers as a derogative slur. I do not know if the expression was coined here or just popularized, but because of the context it can be regarded as offensive.
EDIT: feel I have to put the disclaimer that I do not reallyobject to the use of the word, though.

Edit: no need ^^

This kind of stuff is part of the character that is Destiny. Are you going to go around telling comedians they should be more professional and not use slurs?
This kind of stuff is Destiny doing his job and pulling in the viewers. He is being professional.

This type of language only serves to cast esports in a negative light. It makes no sense to me.

Sports? Here in the US its common place for athletes to use derogatory terms. No one really cares.

lol, just another fucking idiot.

"This explanation ignores the fact that there are many examples of the word's use that pre-date the Korean War."

this is nothing new. lol, ive been watching destiny's stream since i started playing stacraft and to be honest, he has gotten BETTER about using slurs and stuff. calling him ignorant about it is both wrong and stupid. there is no ignorance, and you can search up youtube vids where he specifically defends his want to use racial slurs. and just to add it on, by the way the map looks, an all-in from a terran isnt something i would give a GG to either.
