Agreed but I think people might say DRG vs Genius simply because they believe anything that Tastosis say and Tasteless always overhypes the shit out of stuff("THIS IS THE BEST FINALS EVER, THIS IS THE BEST PVZ EVER, THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER")
Let's be honest here, that was the best PvZ GSL final considering the only other two were July vs MC and Nestea vs Inca. At least the final here started becoming better and didn't end up being a total 4-0.

You should probably specify the final, though I know you are talking about NASL Season 1 final. I wish MC would have played that game 7 out instead of going for the only non-macro game of the series. Definitely one of the best finals though.
I still don't understand why everyone thinks game 7 is the best of all time. If you watched carefully, DRG never had a chance. MMA's drops were doing way too much damage and DRG just refused to spine/bane up his bases. By the time broodlords came, DRG couldn't support his army.
It was a terrible end game.
Genius/DRG game 6 2012 GSL Season 1 was waaaay closer. Had genius spotted that random 11 o clock position and killed it instead of walking into spines, he would have won that game and probably the series.

wait what?
DRG was like an inch from camping MMA's production and killing him with his broods, but he just couldn't finish that last clump of marines.
Also, iirc MMA narrowly took out DRG's last expo that was keeping him in the game with two siege tanks

no way, even if the broods camped that main, DRG was completely broke. MMA still had his 3rd and 4th fully saturated and a big bank. Remaking 8 barracks costs him almost nothing.

it was a damn solid game on top of a damn solid storyline, i have a feeling you're biased since DRG lost that game and won the game vs genius

not at all. The fact stands that MMA was on 4 bases and DRG had none mining. Game 7 was completely 1 sided. DRG was never in control of the map, he was defending and defending until he had to all in with broodlords with a broken economy.
Where as in Genius vs. DRG, they were both on 2 bases and starving, that game was way closer than people gave it credit for.
The weird thing was that DRG sneaked that third in right after it got killed and Genius did not rescout.
I want to add that losing that finals to MMA gained DRG a shit-ton more fans than would have had he won. People like the underdog.
best PvZ game is Kiwikaki vs Stephano during IPL3 (map was either Shattered Temple or Shakuras)
PvZ games tend to be above average at best on the hype meter and the PvZ matchup definitely isn't in the running for SC2's premier match up to watch.
best TvZ finals is MMA vs DRG and best finals for that matter. down 3-0 to MMA, DRG brings it back to 3-3 then DRG is consistently behind MMA in G7 yet manages to put up such a fight on Shakuras. if MMA didn't do his ninja tank drop on DRG's expo, DRG might have had enough production to continue to protect and push with his BLs.
also, Blizzard Cup location has nice acoustics
you can relive G7 below albeit with Chinese commentary

I respectfully disagree. DRG broke through MMA in the center multiple times and at several points held a good supply lead. It was definitely one of the best games of SC2 history.

Looking at the game right now. DRG is pushing the main before MMA's economic advantage really kicked in. MMA is sub 300 minerals and only slightly ahead in supply. DRG's economy is in tatters but he's not completely broke. He still has more than 40 drones and a single healthy expo. Production wise he's fine, most of his hatcheries are up but they're mined out.
MMA on the other hand has almost all the production in his main, which he is barely holding. Should the main fall, he could get his infrastructure back up but that's still going to take some time. Meanwhile, if DRG held the last base he had, he could have at least built enough speedlings to prevent MMA from recovering, harassed non-planetary bases, or maybe even attempted to build another fresh expo. So no, I maintain that DRG could have indeed won. Sadly he did neither :/

haha. I think Mr. Chae said that if DRG did not attack into that fortified position he would have won. The entire studio was cheering for him. Instead, he panicked and lost like 8000 infestors to tanks. I don't know. I still think that it was an unwinnable situation, by that point he was too behind, even if he attacked the third and forth, DRG had no money to make reinforcements. The only way he would have won is if MMA ran all his marines into fungals...highly unlikely scenario.

rawr! lol
I feel kind of bad for MMA though. He's honestly one of the nicest people in the GSL. so valiant and honorable...yet in that finals, he didn't get nearly half the cheers as his opponent did.
