It was her big day.
A crowd had gathered on the steps of the local cathedral, and more were coming still. The groom was there, and the bride was wearing the most beautiful dress money could buy. It was time to start the ceremony. I stepped forward and spoke. “We are gathered here today to bring together in holy matrimony these two players.” The crowd was growing bigger by the second, clearly word had gotten out of this impromptu wedding in the middle of Stormwind.
I turned to face the Groom. “Will you, male player, take this human mage to be your wife?” He nodded. I then turned to the bride, but before I could speak she shouted, “WHAT HAVE I DONE WITH MY LIFE?! THIS ISN’T WHAT I WANTED!” Confusion quickly spread amongst the crowd as they realized what has happening. The Groom looked dumbfounded. “I don’t love this man,” she declared for all to hear.
“I love his dwarf brother!”
And then she took off, running away from the spectacle and into the winding streets of Stormwind. The crowd quickly dispersed and the only person left standing there was me. Only four hours ago I had decided to check out this new Roleplay world of warcraft server that was starting up. In those four hours I had formed a grudging rivalry with a fellow player, worked at a bar and finally officiated this impromptu wedding.
It was the most bizarre day of my life.
