You Should Stream
If you're like me, you find the ladder a lonely experience. You play against each opponent once, and likely never see them again. Sure, if you're GM or high master (or if you are mid master and play at odd times of day), you'll see the same person a few times, or even regularly. But for most of us? We go from game to game without a sense of together-ness. You're just bashing your skillset and sc2 learning against faceless opponents.
Bnet 2.0 is a lonely place. It's dark. It's insular. It can be hard to feel like you have a sense of continuity that really motivates a player. It's lonely, and laddering 1v1s is less fun as a result.
What Dr. Blazinghand prescribes in this sort of situation? Start a stream. Go get xsplit. Put some decent effort into your production values. Get a microphone and everything, get a baller overlay, and talk to your stream in game.
My xsplit has so many scenes you don't even know.
Don't worry, you won't get more than a couple viewers. I've been streaming for nearly 2 years and have like 5 regular viewers. Unless you stream regularly and consistently you won't be popular, but as long as you turn your stream on, there will be people stopping by. You can get listed here on TL, and get traffic that way as well. What matters is this:
You won't be alone.
Even if it's one viewer, or two, you'll have an audience. And when you lose that 1v1 against that cheesing (insert race here) noob? Well, someone will share your pain. And as you press onwards into the darkness of the ladder, you will carry the lantern of your stream with you. Maybe this won't matter to most of you, but for a guy who likes to talk, the feeling that there's someone out there to listen, that my tree falls in a not-uninhabited forest, gives me motivation and strength to press on.
Not everyone has the computing power to stream, but if you're running on high gfx, you can get out a 780x440 stream on a mixture of low and medium gfx without lagging during 200/200 fights. You'll also need a decent ISP that doesn't cap your upload, of course. All this is expensive, and if you don't have the equipment to do it, that's fine.
But even when I was on my macbook, playing without a graphics card on low settings and having to close error messages every time I tried to start sc2, even with my "no right click" mac trackpad and dorm internet, I found a way to finagle livestream procaster to work. Did I lag like a mofo? Yes. Did it hurt my play? Indubitably.
But I wasn't alone any more.

For anyone saying you can't stream because no one will watch:
As Day[9] says, just go do it. Eventually you could have a real audience, but not if you don't even try.

My immature side got the better of me this time, i'm dying laughing at those tabs :D

As a new streamer, I can confirm how true this is

Oh yeah, for sure. It doesn't matter what league you're in even, give it a try! If you don't want to spend money, you can use FLME or livestream procaster, though I'm not sure how these match up to Xsplit in terms of quality.

Your blog has been five-starred, but not because of the text...

This is even more incentive for me to get a better computer so I can feel less alone.

Is it gay to fantasize about... Nada?
On a more serious note, this is a really good point. Fortunately, I have two younger brothers who are as addicted to this game as I am, so even if we're separately laddering 1v1s instead of playing team games together, we're still talking about the games with each other and showing each other "epic" (but not really) replays

It's not even a question if it were about Nada -- everyone knows it's straight to fantasize about NaDa.

Blazinghand, I started streaming about 2 weeks ago on and off, I do like it even though I have a viewer or 2 only. You mentioned obtaining overlays, where can I find overlays?
|
Haha xD what does unforgivable porn even mean?
|
What if we can't stream because our computer sucks.
Then we are forever alone?
