I woke up this morning ready and energized to play some good games of starcraft 2. I logged on eager to play and get some good games in and really hit the ladder and raise my MMR through the roof. However, I just cant seem to get back into it. I lost 2 ZvZ ( my favorite match ups ) very 1 sided. 1 i was super aggressive, and other I was defensive and still lost.. I just cant get out of this stupid rut I am in, and it's really bugging me because I know I have the potential to get into platinum soon if it was not for this stupid thing holding me back!
Many of you commented on yesterdays blog because we all go through this, well how can I get out of it, without just playing a bunch of games and losing them all? I want to be playing against the best of the best of gold and plat so I can get my promotion. These past couple days where suppost to be my get to platinum days off and instead iv spent more time sitting in my chair looking at a wall in playing the game. I just cant win,and If i cant win, I don't want to play.. There is just not point. The game loses its fun, and unfortunately, and i know a lot of you feel this way, the 1 game we all want to play ( diablo 3 ) is not out yet.
I will continue to play some 1v1's today to see if i cant turn things around, but it seems today might just be another team game/ lay in bed and feel frustrated with myself day.
K so after like a 5 losing streak of all ZvZ D: I am going to start posting replays today and hopfully you guys can help me get through this
Game 1
Random ( Terran ) Rank 31 Platinum 14 Wins
+ Show Spoiler +So I came into this game really mad and upset and ugh its going to be another ZvZ ffs.. but he was terran and I let out a sigh of relief. I want to change my ZvT into more festor ling/bling instead of muta, but I still want to get those 12 or so muta's out so i can scout and poke in and just be a nuisance. Alright so this game i pretty much did my mass ling build that works fine vs terran. he moved out to the middle of the map with very little marines after not pressuring me at all, so I was able to get 4 bases up, not fully mining but 4 bases none the less. I am some what proud of this game because during the game i felt like I always do when I am playing my best and that focused and ready for anything.
Game 1 ZvT
Game 2
Zerg Rank 8 Gold 26 Wins + Show Spoiler + ZvZ Sigh, I copied the last ZvZ i did, and didnt attack right away instead I waited for my Speed to finish and got 3 banelings, and was able to get into his base and do a lot of damage early on. I want to find a way I can put on this same amount of pressure and drone up more in case I need to go into more macro oriented mode.
Game 2
Game 3
Protoss Rank 1 Gold Wins 71
+ Show Spoiler +Ugh I hate ZvP its so stupid. So he tries to double proxy gate me and I hold it off, but a lot of eco wasted because of it. and so I thought alright I'll get my eco back up. well I did but he comes with col and just cleans me out, obviously, i thought i threw down a spire but I didnt so by the time i could get some currupters up it was to late. I could have took my gases earlier and such, maybe get some hydras since i had the hydra den, but overall I still would have lost.
Game 3
Game 4
Protoss Rank 16 Gold 12 Wins
+ Show Spoiler +I played this game about 45 minutes ago, i went out for a biut so i didnt have time ti write my entry but that's what im doing now! He did a 4 gate push, and I managed to hold it off pretty well. he was ahead in workers the whole game however, i tried my best to squeeze out as many as I could. I threw up a lot of spine crawlers that actually saved me this game. I lot of you might argue this but that's what allowed me to win.
Game 4(gate)
Hey guys so I just played 3 practice matches vs my friend. They are all ZvZ have a look and maybe help me out.
Game 1 Game 2 Game 3
First two are pretty all-in and the last one is more of a macro game.
Hey guys sorry I havnt been updating, I was playing a bunch of just for fun games as terran vs a friend lol. I just finished another 1v1 so here it is!
Game 5
Protoss Rank 72 Gold 2 Wins
+ Show Spoiler +I am pretty porud of this game, I think if i threw down a match hatch, droned harder on my third and didnt get suppy blocked this would have been a perfect game for me, I stayed calm. droned hard ( sept my third ) and Took out his push with ease. Overall a good, easy win for me I'm back to my regular self!!
Game 5

I dont wanna play Diablo 3. Well, maybe 1 year after it releases.... Getting platinum isnt hard, but apparently you dont have the skills yet. Or you just didnt play enough games. Nada said once, "its alright to hate losing, but we shouldnt fear of losing". Or something along that lines.

You talk like a big noob, talk like a hero, pretend ur Liquid'Hero!!
You "woke up" ready to go at it, then you lost 2 games, then your passion and drive was all gone!!
PFFTH, try losing 300 in a row, then start complaining.
You'll suck even more if you play team games and lie around doing nothing, that's for sure.
Practice, suck it up, don't have shity noob goals like "I want to get promoted".
Rather have goals like "30 games today" then just note down each time you have a game".
If you want more precise training, decide what you gonna practice on today, and have that as a reminder, look at it, and keep queing. Also when you lose, say 1 or 2 things you tihnk was the main reason you lost. Then go at it again, your brain is a self correcting system, so it will try to get you better even if you don't want to. And by your writing, it sounds like you don't want to.
Sorry for being harsh, I think it's appropriate here!!

I have the skills to get to plat, or at least with a few games I'll be able to, just need to drone harder and I am set. its the fact that when i am playing the game it feels my skill set has gone out the window, feels like I am playing a Silver level agasina dn not my usually high gold/low plat that I was for a long time.

Do you know why you're playing like shit now? What's wrong?
Are your mechanics off? Timings? Macro?

Maybe little bit of them all. I just played a game vs a terran, ill be posting replay in a minute, and I was on 4 bases going muta ling bling and i didnt have bling speed lol.main problem is droning, I gotta really 100% focus on that my god i always forget =/ macro is alright.. needs work, timings probably for ZvZ and ZvP.

Wow, talk about setting low goals for yourself.
Think big, man.
|
Do you watch your replays where you lost? What I look for in replays is the good and bad things I did that gave me the loss, and the good and bad things my opponent did as well. If macro is your problem, try watching your heroes and find out what their queues are in droning up instead of making an army.
If you're in a rut and don't feel like playing, watch some streams, vods or replays. Watch and observe what their timings or queues are.

This is the best advice you will get in this blog. When you hover over that "find game" button, dont think of it as putting MMR on the line, but think of it as a sure way for +1 game of training.
oh and:

No, it's not. Not unless you are a Ret smurf (in that case, hi Jos!). All other players have A LOT to gain from improving macro. Never stop working on macro with the reason "my macro is alright" (unless it's you Jos, sry in that case).

I was kinda pissed off that guy when I first read it.. but soon after I started thinking more and more about it and he was right. This game is suppose to be fun, and I make it like its a 100 000$ prize lose everytime i lose a game. That's why I played another game and was able to pull out of it. I want to improve, and by getting mad its not going to help.
And When I say my macro is alright, im not saying i cant improve, or saying i am not trying to improve, i'm just saying that its going good and its getting improved on.

yeah, he could have said the same thing in a nicer way I guess, but maybe that wouldn't have affected you as much?
ok, as long as you keep working on your macro you can call it what you want. I interpreted it as if you felt it was sufficient for your level, and not first priority to improve. gl.
Now go play and get some instructive losses instead of hanging around on TL!!

I think there's value in playing team games as long as you continue to play 1v1 and study and learn. You can focus much more closely on your early game macro without really needing to worry about scouting or reacting to your opponents since in a 3v3 or 4v4 low level game its honestly not that important. Then you can dick around with unit compositions like going pure upgraded lings the entire game and try to harass every player simultaneously and confine their expos. You probably won't win, but you will have an increased appreciation for how to use lings effectively and how to look for counter attack opportunities. I usually transition into mass infestors which is also pretty fun. Or you can go mass muta and work on your muta control. Since there are multiple players, there are also much more targets to hit.
Something else I've been doing recently that's pretty fun is rushing for maxed upgraded banelings then shouting "AMOVE TO VICTORY" and amoving my army into one of the enemy mains. It helps me to work on my three base macro and injects since you need good injects to go mass ling/bling. Also since this only works if your macro is a lot better than your opponents, you have to focus on doing it well because you don't want to look like an idiot when your entire army dies instantly. It's entertaining to see what team game noobs try to do to handle 200+ banelings rolling down their front door. Then there are lings with them to clean up the buildings since you won't have enough gas and because I don't autocast attack buildings since it's a waste of banelings.

there is a 1v1 game I played a few days back in an earlier blog where i made like 50 banelings and just rolled into this base. was a good time.
